Wow. Water, quantum position etc. Kurzweil has us 5 years out from building sentient/human intelligent AI.

Just hope it alleviates so much human suffering sooner than later.
The next evolution of humankind is non-organic.
Wrong take. You can’t evade suffering, it is like energy, you just shove it elsewhere.
Can anyone explain it like am 5?
you first gather a lot of data about a topic that matters to you. And then by training a neural network on this data, you're compressing all the information that is embedded in the data. The output of the training is a much smaller set of numbers (weights). By inserting these numbers in a math function, you can now ask questions related to your set of data. The answers won't necessarily be perfect since the data was compressed.

Training a neural network is a 2-step mathematical process where the 1st step is preparing the data (80% of the overall effort) and the 2nd step is going through an iterative process that intents reducing the error rate when compressing the data up to an optimal point.

There are many applications and LLMs like chatGPT are only an example. I was lucky enough to make credit default prediction models with neural networks in a big bank in the early 90s.
 Thank you 🙌

An excellent video. The late 1950s/early 1960s was really the genesis of so much now cf. J.C.R Licklider's Man Computer Symbiosis (1960), Robert Bellman (1950s), Computers and Thought by Feigenbaum & Feldman (1963) - a compendium of the state of the art then, and stuff like the perceptron. I feel like we've reached the point where there is enough available computing for ideas that already existed to be implemented without finesse and many of the people taking credit, while totally deserving of praise because doing stuff is hard, shouldn't be viewed in isolation. See also Hypertext and SRI/Douglas Engelbert (PARC and others). Giants on the shoulders of giants etc.

I can see the resemblance between the two of you, beard and all
 The videos are gone.
Whatever, the "electronically duplicating some sensory perceptions" sounds pure BS & a statement of blahblah to me.
So much to unpack here. How do you find these treasures Jack.
