That partially is true, but sometimes rehashing arguments, especially in a slightly different social context can be very helpful to come to a better understanding. It's the difference between reading about something and discussing it. One leads to much more thought than the other.
In a feminist space like I describe you can still rehash the arguments when talking to new members, the difference is that bad faith energy leeching behaviour is punishable by ban, and one point of view is considered to be more valid than the other. It's actually more challenging to explain to someone in good faith than to shout at someone who doesn't listen
I’m a big fan of Spinster instance. I would never fit in there but I love that you bad ass ladies are filling the perfect niche on FedI. I learn a lot from reading your posts. Fr, no cap.
Definitely. And there is a lot of shouting being done. As in, a lot of it. And just ignoring it over and over again tends to get pretty tiring after a while. I personally find that a more centralised structure also makes it easier to compile a list of resources and the like.
And most importantly it compiles a centralized narrative so women can grow on a shared foundation instead of discovering the basics all over again every day and/or squabbling over them, leading to zero progress. I don't know what anglophone feminist internet was like before reddit GC but it seems to suggest at least some organization judging by the fact that organized mindset was carried over to GC which resulted in new terms being created (M/FTT and TIM/F) and recurrent ideas (it's a fetish). It all comes from reddit GC, nothing new was invented since. I think the very term "gender critical" comes from reddit but I might be mistaken. Now no matter how great and insightful your discovery is, it is forgotten tomorrow.
