NOSTR relay on your Android phone. https://github.com/greenart7c3/Citrine/blob/main/README.md
No normi is going to give up Chrome for a Tor browser. Brave browser would be a good compromise.
On Graphene they have their own degooogled chrome browser called vanadium. Does the job.
I think this list is aimed at those breaking free, but need a nudge to go full open sauce.
I want to do this, Current iPhone 11 user. Next phone will be a pixel for sure so I can do this. Is it worth getting a pixel 8? I’ve heard bad things about a 6 for example
Had many models. Using lots of 6a's these days. Happy with all of them. At first your iphone will still seem slick but once you play with open source pixel, you will hate an iphone. nostr is monumental enough tech to dedicate a piece of hardware to that lets you use nostr to the full potential.
Thanks sir, I’m looking forward to making the switch with the way the world’s going!
If ur on an iPhone the change to aany android device takes a minute. IMO pixel (and graphene, by extension) is the easiest switch. Overall pixel devices are solid. Occasional issues with cell service, I think it's a modem hardware thing that google hasn't resolved still. Would recommend getting a 7 or newer. There's also the "a" series which is a bit more affordable with a few less bells and whistles.
Okay thanks for the insight, I’m happy to make the switch given the way the worlds going Will check out the 7a as on a bit of a budget
Solid choice. No idea what your region is but just male sure the version you get can have the boot loader unlocked. I know Verizon locks theirs, so you cant install graphene on phones purchased through them.
UK, so will get one that’s unlocked for sure Many options for eSims and some that can be bought with Bitcoin
I've got a 7a with graphene, been running smoothly for 8-9 months now.
That’s good to hear. Thanks!
Atta kid!
Pixel 9 just got announced yesterday. Comes out in a couple weeks I think if you can wait
Think it will be out of my budget I can’t lie
Gotcha! Well on a positive front, the prices of the older models should also go lower over the next month or so, especially if you're open to a refurb. Lots of ppl are going to be trading in their pixel 7 and 8 soon.
That’s it will be keeping an eye out for one
Managed to source a dirt cheap (basically Free) Pixel 7 from a local shop, guys more awake than most and he had a one with a broken back and screen (should be fine with a case) He’s going to remove the google account and fix the SIM card tray. I’m working on him with Bitcoin and I think he might let me pay him in Bitcoin for it too. He’s Muslim so was concerned that there was Riba (interest) which I’ve explained is not possible with Bitcoin and the benefits over Gold (which he holds)
Amazing man! Congrats on the find and on orange pilling someone new. Let me know if you have questions when you're flashing graphene onto your pixel but their website installer is pretty intuitive. They also have a great forum with a lot of helpful members and you can probably find the answer to anything on the forum: https://discuss.grapheneos.org/
Thanks a lot man, Will check it out when I get the phone.
Hi man, Got the pixel 7, has no SIM card tray Will I need to get one or will I still be able to flash Graphene to it?
No SIM card tray? As in the hole is there but it's missing the tray? Or there is no cavity for a sim card at all? Shouldn't affect flashing graphene, but just make sure its a legit pixel
Hole there, no tray, got one on Amazon and put it in, no dramas. Next problem is there is still a google account on there. Defo a legit one tho
You should be able to just follow the web installer on the grapheneos website. Shouldn't matter that there is a googhle account
Ah thanks, will have a look later
Got most but just installed minibits and playing around with it. Super slick, transferring some sats from Wallet of Satoshi was effortless, might start using instead of WoS. I have Zeus too but it's a little slow to start since I'm running it off a Raspiblitz instance at home.
why Minibits?
What’s Amber?
Amen.
What's minibits? An app?
https://github.com/minibits-cash/minibits_wallet
Pretty sick option with the free LNURL now WoS and Alby arnt easily available. Having a play with it now
Testing Mini-bits 🫡 Can someone zap this note a sat to test LNURL works? nostr:nevent1qqszm24y0fjr9uw22wqqjqhhucvznzn3p8v0mhwccwm6mxm6vrz9fzgpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7q3qak68qfcjj7k95c0jwleu69x72nr8adwv6g80pkwl9xlps6zmkqzqxpqqqqqqzvpkmg7
Just tried adding a minibits address to nostr for zaps. Can someone send me a zap to test?
My main concern is that unless you use a provider like Tracfone which requires no KYC to use, you're still going to have to provide info. Just like KYC destroys Bitcoin's privacy, it destroys privacy with a cellular plan. As for providers like Tracfone, I have no idea if they'd support Graphene.
Buy the phone in cash and use https://silent.link/ or Wifi only Airplane mode
Does Silent use traditional cell service? If not, it wouldn't be very helpful for those of us in America, especially those of us with family who refuse to ditch SMS in favor of messengers like Signal.
I miss the Samourai Wallet and a Monerjuo here 😉
Morning y'all! Here are my recent notes of value to #nostr. Hope they continue to help! https://image.nostr.build/eb84ea1f8a8201485296f8011c6cfcc290ace5a3b9584dba08de748631bbb9e3.jpg nostr:nevent1qqszm24y0fjr9uw22wqqjqhhucvznzn3p8v0mhwccwm6mxm6vrz9fzgprfmhxue69uhkvun9v4kxz7fwwdhhvcnfwshxsmmnwshsyg8dk3czwy5h43dxrunh70x3fhj5celttnxjpmcdnhefhcvxskasqspsgqqqqqqsh0q7xh nostr:nevent1qqswuj4lsstlsdueewhc9g37sfvc40pjzg386fzdu0a4dvu4e6jf0wcpz3mhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3e9upzpmd5wqn399avtfslyalne52du4xx066ue5sw7rva72d7rp59hvqyqvzqqqqqqysy7ae8 nostr:nevent1qqs99ml9kch5f2gs0ts99kzdyy68v4gjql5fmm985l0nj7upkze8hmgpz3mhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3e9upzpmd5wqn399avtfslyalne52du4xx066ue5sw7rva72d7rp59hvqyqvzqqqqqqypwadys nostr:nevent1qqs8wekawm8x7scjrdjcf3gsy7dm6f7my2v4usasysenzu0kya9lgsgpz3mhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3e9upzpmd5wqn399avtfslyalne52du4xx066ue5sw7rva72d7rp59hvqyqvzqqqqqqyy4erz2 nostr:nevent1qqst3quznpsjvh5crsp90z5el4d7vuqv4ectlf8mr2qgxy9thqsd9gspz3mhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3e9upzpmd5wqn399avtfslyalne52du4xx066ue5sw7rva72d7rp59hvqyqvzqqqqqqyz9jxw2 nostr:nevent1qqs2qwa3vcayuhrdyrj2m7g7ff5lm00xwpgl0e0r773skun4tevk03qpz3mhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3e9upzpmd5wqn399avtfslyalne52du4xx066ue5sw7rva72d7rp59hvqyqvzqqqqqqys8jems nostr:nevent1qqszm9ln9czlp8mgljmwe7gzwfm506zp4my8llq63eu27gztf2kut9spz3mhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3e9upzpmd5wqn399avtfslyalne52du4xx066ue5sw7rva72d7rp59hvqyqvzqqqqqqywxz7ur nostr:nevent1qqswtluezhnlywfk5m4z5wzywyemfc9dmcceejlavnsqnhf2ttgks3gpg3mhxw309auhydnn0pehzumwxgehzum8df6xkctwwsmhzuekxverw6350funycf4d9uk6um2de58zmr6dcmkj7ncxesh2mtg09jzummwd9hkutczyrkmgup8z2t6cknp7fml8ng5me2vvl44enfqauxemu5muxrgtwcqgqcyqqqqqqgu7zf9y nostr:nevent1qqs99ml9kch5f2gs0ts99kzdyy68v4gjql5fmm985l0nj7upkze8hmgpz3mhxw309akx7cmpd35x7um58g6rsd3e9upzpmd5wqn399avtfslyalne52du4xx066ue5sw7rva72d7rp59hvqyqvzqqqqqqypwadys
