One enhancement that would really make nostr stand out is being able to see where a reaction came from (what kind of event).
Right now, if you write an article and someone zaps it, all you will see is that you got zapped. It won't say "Karnage zapped your article".
If you stream and you have a goal set up and someone zaps that goal, you'll just see a zap. You won't even see an event or be able to track back to what was zapped. But, it could say "NoGood zapped your goal" for example.
I don't know how challenging it would be to make this happen, but I think people would be much more likely to see connect the dots when they see they are getting value / comments / shares of the "other stuff" in their notifications.
#nostrdesign
Some freaks been zapping me 10k sats a day for 4 days straight. At this point I’d rather know who the pleb is, than receive the corn.
Doesnt amethyst already do this ?
Just understanding what you are asking for
I don't know, does it?
Amethsyt shows you npub pic and amount of who zapped if it is a public zap in notifications individually, then groups all reactions to that note later as one notif.
Also minibits notifications have npubs name and profile pic along with amount.
Not sure if this a good idea. It's just more data for chainanalysis.
What chain? Nostr is not a blockchain...
Nostr is a lot of metadata. We know that chainanalysis companies will feed their models with all data they can get and I bet you they already have relays running to leach the user data.
Anything that deanonymises your npub will then be tied to your real life identity.
I am bit saying. Don't do it. I am just saying. Be more cautious. Think from a privacy and adversarial mindset first before implementing an otherwise great idea.
Even Monero can you protect only so far. With enough public metadata willingly provided it can not protect you either.
You can already see zaps comments and shares - it’s all public.
Being able to see where this came from won’t change a thing for the trackers and will make a difference for user experience
If you want private transactions, use ecash in a sufficiently large mint
The protocol handles this already. It's up to clients if they want to expose that information to the users. Amethyst does it. I plan to add it to gossip eventually.
Isn't it already like that?
Witch client show the zaps without any context?
Maybe at protocol level but not sure which clients do. I guess amethyst does? Id need to test more
