Not sure if it will solve your problem but I cleared cached, deleted the app data via storage in settings, deleted the app (make sure you have backed up your nsec), and then reinstalled.
I have been using Damus as an app for over a year and I think the conversion between test flight back and forth, the updates over time and etc may have been effecting my experience.
Since then this issue along with other random issues were resolved on their own.

Deleting data storage through your iPhone settings itself. Not through the app.**
Expanding search results will fix this issue. It won’t be too difficult for us to do this.
