I’ve become a Holesail addict. If I can’t just generate a key and connect remotely to my service now, I’m now just looking for a replacement that does let me do this. I don’t even try anymore. It’s either as easy as Holesail, or I’ll find a replacement 🤣
 I've never heard of it.

Looks pretty cool & useful.

https://holesail.io/docs/introduction
It says it's open source but it's built on hole punch which is closed source. Seems pretty sus to me
Holepunch isn’t closed source. The only app that is closed source is Keet and it’s basically just a UI stuck on top of Pear Runtime which they fully released in February. All the Hypercore and Pear Runtime stuff is open and available to explore on GitHub.
Or so they say (Keet just being a Ui slapped on top the Foss 🍐 runtime)...

I'd rather not trust, but verify.
And I could totally accept it (although not use it), it they would constantly make this gaslight claim "Look, it's open source" while the app clearly isn't
That being said: Have not heard about Holesail yet, and can't find anything online.
Are there some notes somewhere?
 Nevermind. Found it here nostr:nevent1qqsr3tphmpy4avzwxdpcewg25ew4j45ynj24m34k7u8pl4cltw90mmcprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0d4hhxarj9ecxjmntqgsfdjrhvhvspvtf7h7a30qeh7tmmrrdzcllg94gn4zuhd72cjxfgvcrqsqqqqqpjh4sc8

How has anyone been gaslit? They’ve never made a claim that Keet is open source. They have explained that Pear Runtime and the protocol stack is open source, which it is. And they have given their reason for Keet not being FOSS yet while also sharing when they will release it. If you don’t want to use Keet because that app isn’t fully open yet then of course, simply don’t. But nothing about the situation or what they’ve explained is “gaslighting.”
Don't make me look up the tweets, Guy...
Holepunch is OS ain't it? Just Keet client that isn't yet.
Sounds similar to what I use Tailscale for...
Will look into holesail...
Interesting that it gives a Minecraft server as an example. I'm wondering a lot of things at a glance. I would have to verify there is no man in the middle spyware junk. It would be nice if my server ever needed to go dark if the source IP could not be discovered.
@Sovtoshi No there are no man in the middle spyware junk and it works with prettynuch everything including Minecraft, VNC, SSH, MySQL, Apache, Google colab notebook etc...
No more SSH tunnels... this is AWESOME

Can this help with connecting to start9 services remotely from mobile? Tor is aggravating...
YES! And I’ve bugged @91fc3449 about it numerous times over the past year or two, but it wasn’t released (Pear Runtime I mean) so he had been rightfully skeptical but interested.

Matt I told you I was going to bug you again 😆. We need to talk sir because this is how I want to connect to my node.

Also @ZEUS I would like to talk about getting Pear/Holesail implemented so that when node clients start implementing it I can easily connect to any and all wallets I use with Zeus.

We can legit make running our own nodes and clients as fast and as easy as any centralized service (or better really).

Literally everything can connect with nothing but a QR, and then just work.

(Would be awesome to have peers connect more generally and then have a permissions and user management layer on the node as well, but that’s a version 2 sort of thing)

#This is the way
I have not used start9 before but currently looking into it, if start9 can run a Node app then use it can work with it and our mobile app is already ready and out to go on both iOS and Android.
OK would love to see a tutorial on this. It sounds so good
So is this something that could be used to open up a lightning node on a home network to others? That reverse proxy thing has been my biggest issue with trying to be an uncle jim
Yes. And I desperately am trying to make people aware that this is what we should be using instead of the complicated and/or very slow and clunky tools that we’ve resorted to thus far.
Wow. Not heard of Holesail before. Looks to be similar to WireGuard. Thanks.
