Good morning, #nostriches!
I'm at work (making up for taking Monday off) and finally getting to use the new jig that one of the engineers made for making these arm rest parts. It's pretty good, but there are some teething pains. The worst of it is the scuffing of the tube badly enough that I have to polish the scuffs out. This is backwards and I'll have to consult with the engineer on Monday or whenever he can get back over here. Aside from that, it works really well. It is definitely faster since I can get the tube clamped in and aligned very easily and drop the filler plate in and weld it in one process. The bracket part of the jig also needs some work as they don't fit correctly, but that's already being redesigned based on my feedback.
Anyway, I hope you have a great day. I'm looking forward to getting home to check on my solar (power) system (if I was making my own solar system Pluto would never not have been a planet, you monsters!) since I made a few changes to what hardware I'm using and tweaking the settings in an attempt to optimize the current setup for self-sustained mining over a whole day without needing much, if any, input from an external power source. There's no good pics for that, so, pardon the bunch of text about something that you might have no clue about. I'm just excited on a very nerdly way over continual, iterative improvement. 😁

Good morning! Have a blast!
Gm b 🤘🏼
Thank you! How's it going?
Oh it’s going. Trying to sell some of these @noicemag books! Consider picking up a copy 🤘🏼
Hmmm... I might consider it.
36k sats and I’ll ship you a free copy and also a copy of my personal photo zine! https://image.nostr.build/d493e4c83d5007b1228383abc543734700f66fdb045cb6a6d5f1d9bbd0bbf287.jpg
That's tempting... But I can't send that many sats, currently, due to strike being kinda douchey about when I can send sats.
Woah really?? I’ve never had an issue with that!
Yeah. Been trying to send sats for jerky from nostr:nprofile1qqsv8tj2mrsx4ywzqpr466w2jpzq6m25meef60g7ttavl0dku4x5djcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qywhwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnzd96xxmmfdejhytnnda3kjctv9uq3vamnwvaz7tmwdaehgun9d35hgetn9ehhyee04g293q for a friggin week. I'm... A bit grumpy about that.
Damn that’s super annoying!
Yeah. It makes it really effing hard to spend and replace.
Do you have another wallet?
I got 'em! Sometime last night 🙏
That's good news! I was going to say something that was really easy to take the wrong way, but... I honestly can't wait to try the jerky you make.
I hope you enjoy 😁👍
I'm pretty sure I will! 😁
Strike has been terrible for me too. I keep getting flagged during the kyc process. They seem to want to expand everywhere instead of investing in good customer service
how can i help?
Let’s make this book sale happen gentlemen @colincz @The Beave ⚡️
Let’s get it fam! I’m packing them up now!
Even if you go through complete kyc succesfully Strike has an additional very questionable SHOTGUN kyc process where it blocks withdrawals and keeps your btc hostage.
You are required to take a selfie which often fails and then you are stuck with hoping the support team helps you out, which often takes days….
Remove these shotgun kyc processes immediately, they do not work at all and are going against the bitcoin ethos.
It’s terrible that you decided to implement such a dystopian kyc process like this in your app.
Yeah I think Primal's wallet is hooked up with Strike as well
I guess I just need to try to sign up again.
I'm not sure if the kyc laws allow disclosure of why you are denied. Last time I tried, they had me resend my documents several times. After maybe 10 times (different pieces of mail). I got approved and was able load up my fountain wallet. A month or two went by and I found my account was 'under review' when I wanted to spend fiat to give a business sats.
can you DM me your username? that doesn’t sound right. sorry about this. i’ll take a look
I'm not understanding why if I've bought sats that I can't immediately send sats.
I want to practice spend and replace. If I can't do that for a bunch of smaller (let's say sub-$100) purchases, then it's really hard to justify using strike as a platform for anything other than efficient DCA. In that regard, it's as good as it can be given the onerous KYC requirements. (I'm not blaming you for those, just to be clear.)
how are you buying the bitcoin? if you’re using ACH, it’s likely because we don’t know your account well enough yet and it’s a fraud protection.
every other payment method we offer has instant withdrawals up to any size outside of ACH. if you’d like you can DM me your username and i’m happy to take a look at your limits
Inches a day turn to miles a year. Glad to hear you're making strides and I aspire to a solar system like you've been talking about. I'm weekending too so I feel your pain. Happy Saturday, fam.
Is it the sort of thing where you can add padding like a piece of leather or is the jig too tight and there is no room for a pad?
I don't get it @The Beave - what's causing that scuffing? Minor movement during the alignment process? (Or do you really have to crank down on that alignment bolt?)
Seems like a redesign is in order (and a good polishing of the jig)...
The edge of the upright piece. I have to bop the tube into place. They are not bent exactly. I'll get a pic in a few and you'll see.
I want to replace that one piece with a slightly taller piece that has a raduis milled onto it. That would cut down or eliminate the scuffing. For now, I've got a bit of a radius on the edge now, but, it really could use a more gentle, consistent radius to ease the tubes into place.
But other than that, I'm really liking the setup. I've got a pretty good work flow going
Agree--the concept is good, but it needs a better (refined) design. Certainly a radius would help immensely, as would a good polish to minimize abrasion.
A good jig is worth its weight in gold...
