Orbot seems to use it in a similar way, so I don't know what might be causing the issue.

 Doesnt work you mean it doesn't start? I detected the same behavior with the other 2 Tor libraries I tested in Android. 

I already discarded the idea of ports collision but never dig into the real reason. Happy to help or hear if you found the solution 😁

 It's too convoluted. This allows 1024 different settings for TOR. I would want two:

( ) tell the world my IP address
(*) protect my privacy 

 Doesn't work. Videos take forever to load, many relays block it, profile pictures don't load, and streaming videos snag all the time. 

Tor is good, but the all or nothing doesn't make much sense. 

 Make it four options then:

* Protect my privacy
* Protect my privacy unless the relay really wants to know my IP
* Protect my privacy unless it comes at a cost
* Fuck my privacy

 Yeah, that's the goal. Trusted are the ones in your lists, untrusted for everyone else's relay. 

 What if there was a basic and advanced tor configuration? That would allow users to choose from a set of default "recommended" settings, as well as providing the ability to modify settings on a more granular basis.

 Looking good! Have the descriptions for Trusted and Untrusted relays been swapped by any chance?

As a user, I would also appreciate an option to 'toggle all' at the very top. To keep it simple for non-technical users, I would only display the 'toggle all' in the basic view, while advanced users can access the specific options under the advanced view. :)

Additionally, maybe the use of "Tor for Onion URLs/Relays" should be enabled by default, at least for new Amethyst installations. My reasoning is that many users won’t know what Tor is, and when they do, a lot of them might treat it like their browser's "Incognito Mode". However, we probably still want to let them access onion URLs out of the box. 

 Complementary question: When you mention Inbox and Outbox relays, are you referring to the ones I have configured for myself or the Inbox/Outbox relays of the people I'm interacting with? I ask because, from my perspective, my own Inbox/Outbox relays should be 'trustworthy', but I might still want to use Tor when interacting with everyone else's Inbox and Outbox relays. So, the terms 'Trusted' and 'Untrusted' aren't immediately clear to me.

Maybe we could be more specific, e.g., with toggles for:

* My Inbox relays
* My Outbox relays
* Other users' Inbox relays
* Other users' Outbox relays
* My DM relays
* Other users' DM relays
* Search relays
* General relays

.onion urls won't work unless you use TOR, so that option should be a general "Allow use of TOR"

Group stuff:
Relays: Use TOR for all relays, untrusted relays, all but DM relays (DM relays are the ones where you have to login to DM?)
Media: Use TOR for all text and media, text/audio/images, text only

 What's the benefit of using an integrated tor circuit as opposed to using Orbot?  

 Why is Amethyst connecting to untrusted relays? That's confusing.

And some point It would be good if there was a link to a webpage explaining each setting that is not obvious in 4 words  

 Following the outbox model, amethyst has to connect with all relays that your follows put in there inbox/outbox relay lists.
