Not necessary anymore since we use mechanically produced hosts, only crumbs come from fraction, and those fall on the patten.

I have used homemade hosts before, and it made me see why that practice was necessary back then. Crumbs everywhere!

 @f7d6dc43 Even these [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXPDXf1gwks] produce crumbs that adhere to the priest's hands as he engages in the sign of peace. IMO it is the most terrible aspect of the modern rite.
