Both of my kids have to give a four page reports and a slideshow with videos or pictures on Costa Rica for their week long absence to be officially excused from school. 🙄🙄🙄 It's bullshit, IMO.
But, thankfully the Bitcoin Freedom Festival will have several talks and sessions that are very educational - from coffee, to exotic fruit, to cocoa to sessions about #Bitcoin for kids. Plus we have ou own excursions and activities planned. I think they're going to be just fine, making memories and getting a broad education about another country and their culture.

I just read your note and I'm not shocked at what the school is requiring for their 1-week absence. Your children will end up learning so much more than they would if they attended the week at school. The experiences they'll have can't or wouldn't be taught are something that the teachers don't fully appreciate or understand.
Make memories together as a family and enjoy the time and dare I say the warmer weather than you're most likely leaving behind cold/snow in your hometown. The Bitcoin Freedom Festival schedule/agenda looks like it'll be a great event for you. I hope to be able to travel to that in a future year.

Kids will be miles ahead of peers when exposed to other countries cultures languages etc. I used to do it as often as I could. Always got heat from the educators tho. The same people that went to school left school to go to college to end up back in school.
Absolutely. The kids can always make up the in school work. And as long as they're not failing, I don't mind them missing school. This is more beneficial.

The public school systems are next to worthless today. Maybe consider home schooling the kids until high school age or better. This really make a great family bonding too. If I had a do over, I do it this way.
