There are packaged releases for lots of platforms. You don't have to run off of 'master' branch. 

 I can speak for Ubuntu only but I installed it and upgraded many times without a glitch. So easy that I ended up using non-master branches regularly. 
I stopped using it over a year ago though because it offered no zaps and Mike made it clear he would never add them.

 I was talking about installation ease. I'm not sure what you're asking here.

 What Mike means ist that he does not know how many users are using gossip because it does not use any telemetry in order to respect its users privacy. 

 Gossip has zaps. It doesn't have wallet connect.

For zaps you pick an amount and it gives you a QR code.  You scan that with your phone wallet to pay it.  Notes show zap totals (and will show the individual zappers in the future).

 I just zapped you from primal (webapp) with a single mouse click. That's a zap capabilty! 

 Use the client that serves you best.  I'm glad you can one-click zap me.  Please do it whenever the spirit moves you.

I'm not complaining that people aren't using gossip. I just wanted to know why people choose the apps they do and if I should refocus on something that is more important than the deep-internals I've been bogged down in. You've been very clear and it is helpful, thanks. 

 As a non-developer it was exceptionally easy (on Mac at least). 

Just gotta find the right file on GitHub (they’re labeled) and basically download it and drag the thing into your applications folder, same as anything you download outside of the App Store 🤙
