https://mostr.pub/ new landing page for Mostr bridge with an input box. You can type a Fediverse name to find them on Nostr.

Is there any way to minimize the level of effort for a nostr user to “just connect” with the fedivers with say… a tap of a single button? I think that would be interesting addition to clients.
 What does just connect mean?
Isn’t that what relays are for?
Yes but it’s still a learning curve that we are already accustomed to but could be made more simple for people. A single opt in or toggle to connect to the fediverse
Agreed it’s a steep learning curve, I had to figure it out myself, I couldn’t find anyone that knew n e thing about it really except the people from the fedi
We can do so much better. I will design this.
Basically dumb it down to where I don’t even need to think which instances I’m connecting to as long as I can talk to the bulk of the people. Perhaps and advanced link for more actions.
In nos.social we look at user look up / search and if it looks like a fediverse address we find the nip-05 from mostr and let users follow the fediverse account. It is under documented but works well.

Is it possible to surface fediverse accounts in nostr onboarding?

Imo this is still too technical and could be abstracted away further without sacrificing choice

Havent explored yet.

Was thinking today about a prompt if scrolling perpetually in universe view: “do you want to connect to the fediverse to discover more, and different content and users?” Yes/no.
What’s a good argument against not connecting to it by default in onboarding?
 Have you tested fediverse bridges?

Do they work, are you interacting with fedi folks, do you recommend adding mostr and/or other fedi relays by default?

If fedi is significantly larger than nostr at this point are there issues with nostr users first point of contact being fedi users?
 1. I have the mostr relay but I honestly can’t tell if I’m interacting with people in fediverse or not.

2. I don’t see any issues with fedi being bigger - why would that matter? People are people. It may even help with our corn content density.

I’m all for default integration. Don’t even know why we’d look at it differently from any other nostr user? 🤷‍♂️
 no moderation
 Still missing 2
Nice! Can we add a second form to look up a nostr account for the fediverse? Put in an npub or nip-05 and generate the mostr account for the nostr identity?
pretty please with a vegan cherry on top?
If you search the following on Mastodon, it should show up:

**nostr profile hex code**@mostr.pub

 Thanks man.

Steak.relay.com is fantastic.

( PS nostr.at is a brilliant privacy concious explorer )
I figured it out. Primal doesnt let you follow for some reason, but snort does. I was already following myself Good stuff!
 Alex,

Do you have a write up on this entire 'bridge' thing? I'm not sure what to do it . . . exactly. I can find my fedi name on mostr so that's good but what happens?

Do I have to connect my npub on nostr to my fedi name?

If that's true then does it post notes to toots (mastodon) and toots to notes.

Something fundamental is escaping me and I'm sure it's simply me overthinking things but any direction you could provide would be helpful I'm sure.

Thanks.
"Something fundamental escapes me", yes that Alex does good engineering, and that's unusual.
There is no privacy. Mastodon has no privacy either btw.
Even with "signed fetch" to prevent "scrapping", Your post remain public & readable if there's a way to read these anyway.
Could you describe this problem? I am currently working on a SWOT analysis of Mastodon and am interested in such issues. Thank you :D
It’s not a “problem” or a bug of any kind, it’s just not designed for privacy, and neither is Nostr.
for me the biggest issue with mastodon is that it is not compliant with UE LAW for example nudity or porn is available without login just using public feed or federated feed. On mastodon.social you can see literally hardcore stuff. But also Mastodon GMBH is misleading users how the priacy looks in mastodon or what are the posts visibility options working...

also the funny thing is that there is thousands of so called privacy advocates threre advertising advantages of using big tech alternatives for example pixelfed... and if you ask who is storing yours data (i've asked directly owner dansup) you will get no answers. There is also nothing in privacy policy. That is not compliant with EU law... or privacy advocates storytelling...
That’s going to be true of any distributed/self hosted network.
So, the problem is... just to make it clear... admins could have tools to monitor things, stop spam, and keep things in line, right? BUT they don't get these tools because the devs have this ideological stance. They're all about creating ethical social networks and want to shield users (especially minorities) from the toxic stuff you often find on social media. LOL --> That's why we see big instances shutting down every month due to flame wars... It's all part of how Gargron set it up
not mention child porn... but i assume this is not stuff from porn underground but just from secret police to have something for U... its easy to get in trouble just by being admin of mastodon instance. Gargron doesnt give A FUCK about it
Gargron has nothing to do with who gets in trouble for what. This whole thing is sus tbh. Are you a journalist or something? You come off like a journo.
not journo just a angry guy looking for troubles, asking questions, testing... i am going to write an article about mastodon, mastodon gmbh and privacy advocates :D
