We should be catering to and courting Tiktokers. They DO care about censorship resistance. They think #Tiktok is their best option because Meta's and X's algorithms cater to ONLY established profiles. They have a billion global users and growing. 100 million in the U.S.. Most Tiktokers believe in community and helping each other and saving themselves from capitalism. They share our ethos and are curious and open-minded. The content creators push out SO much content to make money. And barely do. They constantly complain on the lack of clarity on how much they're paid and how often TikTok changes the rules. They will love #zaps. There is a very common comment Tiktokers put on a post they deeply relate to or enjoy: "I BUILT THIS FYP BRICK BY BRICK" (FYP = For You Page = Their profile on the TikTok algorithm) Meaning they've liked/blocked certain things to ensure their FYP is curated for them. They're halfway there. These are your people #Nostr. The biggest hurdle we have is painless video uploads. Free services are limited in file size/video length and payed services require bitcoin and an upfront investment. In terms of apps: Amethyst (Android) already has a vertical video view, iOS clients still need some work for better video UX. Video creation is not a priority IMHO. Either the TikTok app or other video apps can be used for that.

I don’t think it is a priority [yet] because everyone is just trying to replace Twitter. But we are seeing that social media platforms are all about video posts. TikTok came and now we have reels on IG and shorts on YouTube. It must be everyone else’s priority for a reason. @ian is working on the promoted note network and it would bring revenue into nostr. Tiktokers are already doing so much to build their own spaces, so connecting with them makes a lot of sense. They’re all about community and finding ways to support each other, which lines up really well with what Nostr is about. Bringing them in could be a big step for everyone. Excited to see where this goes!
