 Outside of Canada was no problem at all since where I was everyone used data based apps to send text and make calls even regular businesses. 

When I came back it started to become a problem quickly. I lasted a month and was using my wife’s phone to call and receive call backs from businesses. Some services still required a phone number to receive text messages that won’t work with 1 time sms services. 

Though if you were to reduce some of those types of calls then it should work. 

 how are you living with no bank? in the UK most services require a "direct debit" which gets set up with your bank account, making it kinda essential.

in Canada it's different? 

 All my services accept credit card, and I use the shakepay visa which lets me pay credit card with Bitcoin

 Living without a bank is actually very difficult in the UK. I’ve moved to the “challenger” banks at the moment (they use a different license) but it all depends how self-sufficient you are. If you have shelter and produce your own food, you are half way there. However, if you have a fiat job or a business, a bank is often needed to receive the salary/funds. And as you say, how do you pay utility bills? And what about transport and travel? Then you have those private, self-appointed credit rating agencies like Experian and Equifax. Will take at least 6 years of having no bank accounts to fully opt out of those. Then if you ever want a mortgage and have no credit rating you’re screwed. So much stuff is so heavily intertwined within the fiat system, that developing Bitcoin to break that system is arguably more important than developing for social media. For bitcoin to move beyond being viewed as just an asset, it ultimately has to be accepted as a currency for more and more everyday things.
