OK, now...

Who does Newsom appoint? Schiff, Porter, or Lee? Or does he go with someone who promises not to run against those three in 2024 and let voters decide? 

Barbara Boxer should be appointed. That is my unprofessional opinion.

I think I'd lean toward appointing Katy Porter, let her take hold of the seat for however long is left.  And in the mean time push to get the DNC to funnel money to Schiff as much as possible for his election bid.
