It is a very poor comparison, since one example is a singular occurrence within a system that is allowing almost all expression and respects personal freedoms, where the other examples have singular examples of where they respect personal freedom sometimes.
since its very inception, telegram was heavily criticised by "experts" and competitors for its homebrew MTProto encryption. Interesting how authorities did not try to shut down or arrest employees of Signal or other trusted messaging apps while they used the "far superior" more trusted DRA encryption protocol that Whatsapp also uses. Interesting times...
