My literary collection is mostly focused on military aviation through a UK lens, World War II and the Falklands conflict. Movies-wise my holidays as a kid would have involved such classics as The Dambusters and 633 Squadron.
Combining the two, Guy Gibson’s memoir, Enemy Coast Ahead, is a fantastic read - not only for the historical account of the Dambusters raid, but also the fact he wrote it aged 25, having lived a life of experiences, accomplishments and responsibilities that today you’d expect would more befit someone twice his age.
Different times.
