Is there a correct meaning of this word?
I guess so! Friendship means having a deep bond based on trust, support, and genuine care, built over years. Real friends are there for each other through good and bad times, accepting each other as they are.
You said real friendship. Does this mean there are other types of friendships? If real friendship takes years, what about people you’ve met, like, hung out with a big and somewhat trust them? Who are they to you?
I have only few real friends in my life with whom I been growing and went thought a lot of things! I don’t count people with whom I’m chatting on internet or met few times as “bro, or friend” it’s common in American culture but I was born in different culture with different principles! I can’t name such people as a friends!
you guys are discussing things based on trust level. maybe need better terms. Acquaintance sounds rubbish. Maybe call anybody friend who you consider that level of closeness required and call the others mates until sufficient time has passed
To build a friend is similar as to build family relationship with your wife without having sex with a friend !
It’s like the word love. I love Darjeeling tea, Telemann’s music, my fellow general human being, my dad, my husband, my baby, and God in vastly different ways and degrees. In English there’s only one word for all of it.
