I love my cars, I race them. There's my 3.0 V6 twin Turbo model🤷🏻‍♂️🖕🏻. Fuck. The. Jaguars😜.
 High time preference...
25 years of hard work, bought and paid for🤔? Don't fucking judge me. Fuck. The. System🖕🏻.
Not judging just stating the fact that this kind of car represents a high time preference. Plus it makes you consume more gasoline and car parts are more expensive, therefore you're paying more taxes to feed the system.
I do less than 3000 miles a year. That was when I worked, I'm retired now, at 46🙏🏻.
buying a good car is not necessarly high time preference. A lot of people die in car accidents everyday, be in a good car that can properly resist a crash can make the difference from death and life, so its not necessarly a foolish expense.
I'm not so expert in cars so I cant judge if a jagaur is a good car from this point of view and if it generally has a good value for the money.
I agree, safety first. Another factor to consider is that big engines car, because of EU regulations, are often cheaper than 1000cc new cars. Sometimes you find used good 6 cylinder cars for less than 5000€.
agree, if today I would choose a car to buy it would be a good used car from early 2000 without much electronic.
A used car that can cost me ~5000€ (+ ~2000€ maybe to rapair it to perfection) would be safer, more performant, more repairable, and have no spyware inside than a new car for ~30000€.
And the new car for ~30000€ is designed to not function in 20 years because reparabiloty is limited and the vendor would stop the (expensive) assistance earlier.
The only real downside could be the fuel expenses, but depend on how much kilometers someone does every month.
