Very easy. ISPs can see connections into Tor if you don't use a VPN from your device.
so for us normies who run orbot, how are we to run a VPN along side that on a mobile device?

VPNs have even more popular IPs. Especially if you use Nord or express. Sounds like a big red flag in the VPN/ISP/DNS/Government log. Is there any real way to privacy/anonymity?
