From my research so far this is something that hasn’t been built An Anchor for Nostr users. Ie a way to store content that can’t be cancelled As a creator I would pay for that service for sure Whilst a friend today with a large YT audience admitted the same “I am terrified of YT cancelling me, I was just blocked on X for 5 months” nostr:note19ylpy9wcjuy9d4wwhtzty26fr8d5jugs32al0q2ctghy0czggypqv37h83
Specifically large files. Torrent right?
Yeah that might work. Whatever size a podcast episode would take up
If you’re wanting to decentralized but Nostr supporting, you can get a builder account at nostr.build and upload videos there. If you want it to be decentralized, yeah I think torrenting is the way, but I don’t know much about torrent. Nostr relays sorta host files for free, but only the tiny note files.
And of course nothing is really free..
You don’t really need to store content just notes that can’t be cancelled. As long as you can update content view / download URL, you should be able to host it anywhere - even centralized server farms
Should be easy enough to spin up in-client short url service or use w3.do
What I am thinking is to ensure when you post on Nostr the url you post takes someone to a place that can not be cancelled As creators if we use YT to host and broadcast then send UrL on Nostr the post would never dissappear but the episode could So if you had a way to store all your content that couldn’t be cancelled it would be very valuable (I would pay for it!)
With a short url you can essentially re-write where it points to. You still get the benefit of uncancellable notes, without any additional complexity. Files can be hosted anywhere, even AWS. If it’s on a server, it can be cancelled. Storing large files on multiple relays seems very inefficient to me but that’s what you would require to be truly uncancellable short of linking to a torrent
I am no techie. I just know that as a content creator I would love to get away from having my content at risk
💯 but what you are actually valuing is not the content but that relationship with your followers and customers. Nostr ensures that can’t be cancelled. File servers come and go.
I think that @PABLOF7z is working on something...
what is "an anchor"?
Acquired by Spotify. It’s where I hosted all my podcast files to then broadcast to iTunes / Spotify etc over RSS https://podcasters.spotify.com/
I can recommend https://sovereignfeeds.com/ for creating your own RSS feed. Hosting need to be done by oneself.
https://ipfspodcasting.net/ Does this do anything close to what you want?
