Oh weird 🤔 I've never properly used primal so can't say. But on amethyst you can select which img host you use. I use nostrbuild. And I think it doesn't have any problems with image uploads. Also fine with video (up to a certain length). It does reduce quality of video. But does this all for you.
For longer video I've found this (let me find it) free file hosting site (no associated at all with nostr, but useful)....

No no I think it's totally fine. I just meant that hosting link is good say if you were posting a long video that wouldn't upload.
I've never had any issue uploading images or video using primal on web or amethyst on mobile (unless it's a very long video). Not sure why you encountered an upload problem. Might just be a normal nostr glitch lol
I could be wrong but i think nostter client is using media servers by default. i may be misunderstanding the preferences page. i also self host my avatar and profile banner. good on you
