Don't get me wrong, I stare into my phone as much as the next guy. But every time I see a group of people sitting at a table, together, with each person staring into their own phone as if they were alone, I find myself shaking my head. I guess I'm a grumpy old man now.
When it's a hot girl and guy on phone. Only a matter of time 🤫
Yes Dan, when we're together we should limit phone usage to just what serves a purpose. 💜
sounds like you are just a human 🫂
You're not an old guy, you're a guy that undestands the value of consciousness in a social environment.
I felt this way in my young college days it’s not an old man thing lol
Phones are more real than reality sometimes I think it's legit
I’m with you. Worst look ever.
Nah I’m 29 and even I cringe when I see it. Technology has allowed us to keep memories forever, but we’ve lost the magic of the moment. It’s a blessing and a curse 🫠
Or they are the Sovereign Engineering Cohort. In that case. We will allow it.
I'm the tech guy that has disconnected.
Grumpy old Dan now
This comment needs recognition 😭😭
And probably texting each other...
Missed opportunity for ‘Dan’t get me wrong’, but I agree with the sentiment. It’s sad.
nah I getcha. it's a sad sight, i mean if they were all on nostr spreading sick bitcoin memes then i'd understand but they are likely doom scrolling Insta or the bird app.
Not doing it requires discipline and awareness
Or a mute button while you're socialising IRL.
Hate that shit. Phones are getting way too addicting nowadays. You'd think they would put them away when they're with others, but it seems people can't manage to not check Facebook or Instagram even if they're in a real life social setting. The lack of eye contact from everyone is disturbing
I totally agree I feel exactly the same in the tube when I see everyone on their phones
Totally with you. It’s just good manners to keep your focus on your companions, if you’re lucky enough to have them. Phones have their place, and I’m on mine a tolerable bit, too.
I like to watch out the window when takeing the train. Everyone else is looking down.
I see it as my duty to confront said people with a warm 'hello'
Same. I guess I'm another grumpy old man.
I never liked that the moment mobiles become a thing on the streets.
To grump, or not to grump, that’s the question
teach your kids to be different - it is worth
I like to raise my eyes from my phone, pass immediate and swift judgement on all over table phone users , and slink back to Reddit
It’s sad!
It’s why most people’s ability to have a face to face conversation with people has deteriorated so much!
Somehow I find it unlikely that a grumpy old man would use nostr...
There is a typing... Should be:
"I'm a grumpy old dan now."
Antisocials in social networks
If you're a grumpy old man, so am I. Being an elder GenZ, I always preferred sitting at the edge of a pool at night and talking shit while our feet were in the water
You didn't ask for advice, but here you have it anyway. 😄
Get a second simple-cellphone. Just for calling and texting and leave your smartphone at home now & then. Or take times to do your online things on a pc a few days a week.
You'll be a great example to the youth and maybe the grumpy old man will leave you.
Watching these kind of scenes always takes me to leave my phone for a while. Don't wanna be like that
Eventually all this electronic equipment will fail and only those who develop meaningful relationships will be able to survive. Your instincts are not wrong.
My rule is always if I’m with anyone and we’re socializing (in any way) phone is off limits
probably good for health and not to mention relationships
think I will try that but would probably need to completely turn off the phone, but that's fine.
I made a small jammer for 2.4Ghz and the 3G cell bands back in the day. Great way to entertain yourself while having a coffee, much more fun than just shaking your head.
you were following me around weren't you?
