that's why i'm running an alby hub rented from alby... darthcoin has many good guides on it and has said many things and one of them is "your shitty pi nodes are making lightning worse, stahp"
But won't this mean losing 10,500 / 21,000 sats every month just to "rent" someone's hardware to begin with? I don't think most folks, knowledgeable about Lightning or not, will earn enough sats to cover cloud costs, rebalancing fees, channel closing fees, etc. So yeah, to me it's still mainly voluntary work that may or may not become self-sustaining. (Nothing against Alby, by the way - it's great to hear that people are willing to pay for their products and help popularise things like NWC).
was about to do the same with remaining sats but maybe utxo's note makes me instead double down on build back the little pi dolmen 🤣 🐸
well, i think a UPS and a mini pc and your in/outbound private channels at home is a great idea i'd be doing it (even have the bitcoin node ready for it) but it's too much to think about for me at the moment while i try to stack more than spend
🤔 I got to reach the `zaps -> ((big-hub ->) nodes-network) -> freezer` stack-through-lightning workflow... private channels should not be clogging the probing works, no?. Probably many of those much small channels should be private instead of public subject of path probing... a miss of UI | UX as any other 🐸
yeah, exactly, and how can nodes know they are shit small channels? this fact is not advertised! i hope that the light dawns on this issue for lightning node devs in the near future
then so as well for node runners to no miss the why and how of the using of nodes (experience). as to batch open many small channels expecting farming routing fees for all of them indeed is doing troll-science. however a handful of small well planned channels; then that could talk about a nice tidy network overall
