My reply wasn’t funny? It really wasn’t an attempt to roast you. You might be right about bitcoin. I know absolutely nothing about Monero so you might be right about that too. I saw your post on the #Bitcoin and thought you wanted a little engagement. I apologize if it wasn’t an open discussion. From what I know… the bitcoin address that I posted shouldn’t go anywhere. I took a real bitcoin address, deleted numbers and letters then typed them on this here. That is why all of the letters are capitalized. It won’t lead you anywhere. Theoretically it shouldn’t. So it was a joke because it won’t allow you to send anything o it. The lightning address I copied from strike so that is real, but it doesn’t go to anything that I can take credit for. #bitcoin #mybad
Hey, no worries about the initial post. However, I want to address the 'shitcoin' comment. Not everything outside of Bitcoin is shitcoins. In fact, many altcoins, like Monero or Etica, have unique features and use cases that solve real-world problems. Take Etica Protocol ( https://www.eticaprotocol.org/ ) for example, which is working on decentralizing medical research, enabling secure and transparent data sharing, and accelerating the discovery of new treatments and cures. Wearing a Bitcoin shirt without studying anything outside of it can be superficial, and dismissing other coins without understanding them can be misleading. Let's break the myth that everything outside of Bitcoin is a 'shitcoin'. Instead, let's focus on learning and exploring the diverse world of cryptocurrency, where innovation and progress are happening across multiple projects, from private transactions to medical breakthroughs. Who knows, you might discover something new and exciting.
That is understandable and I agree 100%. Nothing in this world should be dismissed without inspection. I wouldn’t be into Bitcoin if I had dismissed it without further inspection. I had to reread my own comment to make sure that I phrased it as intended. I actually was calling bitcoin a “shitcoin.” That’s the reason that I didn’t put a space between shitcoin and bitcoin. I was trying to make it known that I was saying… “To anyone that doesn’t want that shitcoin called bitcoin they can send that to a bitcoin or lightning address.” It wouldn’t make sense that I called ethereum (or any other coin) a shitcoin then said send it to a bitcoin address. It wouldn’t work. (Plus I don’t have a way to receive any other coin.) I did however input a wrong bitcoin address, but that was because I didn’t want anyone to say that I was fishing for bitcoin donations. It is interesting that you bring up medical breakthroughs and private transactions with other coins. This might be where a major misunderstanding is. It is awesome that there are coins focused on things like this. Many many many people would love this. It speaks to me as a medical enthusiast myself. Private transactions are another gift also. What turns my head about bitcoin is the ability to jump on a plane with $1.00 or $5.00 and no one can regulate what I have… blah blah blah we all know why Bitcoin is useful. (Putting on my fortune teller hat) Bitcoin is and will be the future of money, banks, transactions, value exchange etc. plus the wage I earn and put into bitcoin today (should because nothing is guaranteed) should go up in what it can buy for my great great great grandchildren. So it buys more as time goes by. In comparison to the usd that I use now which will buy me less next year and every year after. So all coins have their purpose. I don’t need level 10 privacy so Bitcoin is enough. I don’t need a medical procedure today so bitcoin is enough. I don’t need faster transactions so the current bitcoin system is enough. I wish to not have my dollar buy me less because I hold onto it for a long time. So bitcoin is enough because I can buy more (even though I don’t) bitcoin is enough! Now if they come out with a system that I can enter most countries in the world because I hold this or that coin, then I will be interested. But I am in it to be free from the money matrix and bitcoin is enough. #bitcoinisenough #bitcoinisashitcoin #shitcoincalledbitcoin #bitcoin #lightning #shitcoinbitcoin #etica #monero #ethereum #altcoins #fortuneteller
Etica could be built on nostr. No shitcoin with absolute no hashrate is required. This is just another useless scam.
The real scam is the zombie mentallity that people like you and your maxis friends are. Everything is useless if it isn't Bitcoin, am i rigth?
It just serves a different purpose. Example: I love women. My wife serves a different purpose than my girlfriend. My girlfriend serves a different purpose than my mistress. My mistress serves a different purpose than my secretary. My secretary serves a different purpose than my best friends wife. The women that are valuable to me doesn’t necessarily have to be valuable to my best friend. And that is ok. It is not a competition. (EVENTHoUgH his wife is smoking HoT!) #hotness
I have my interaction with bitcoiners watching YouTube and on Nostr. My friends and family think I am batshit crazy for believing in bitcoin and that is ok. I have other interests in life than trying to convince them that I have unlocked the key to some magical universal glitch in the matrix. *as I whisper*….. but I have.
Can I ask a real question? Do both sides think that the other side is closed minded? I just think hey are differently informed.
I believe that the maximalism on both sides is a sign of a closed-minded mentality, reminiscent of a cult-like behavior. It's clear that they are informed differently. In my opinion, Bitcoin falls short in several areas. Firstly, it lacks privacy, which makes it vulnerable to surveillance and censorship. Secondly, it's expensive to transact, which limits its usability. Lastly, the lack of decentralized payment solutions is a significant issue. The Lightning Network (LN) was supposed to address this, but it only works well when used with custodial solutions, which defeats the purpose of decentralization. Statistics show that over 90% of LN users rely on custodial solutions, which is a far cry from Satoshi's vision of a system that doesn't require financial institutions. The Bitcoin maximalist community has failed to achieve this vision by creating centralized exchanges instead of nurturing peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions. As a result, Bitcoin has become primarily a store of value, rather than a usable currency. The maximalist community also fails to see that the world is more complex and nuanced than they think, and that Bitcoin's transparency makes it an easy target for the corrupt system we live in. It's essential to acknowledge these limitations and work towards creating a more robust and decentralized financial system, rather than blindly promoting a single solution as the only viable option.
it was bitcoiners who sat on their hands for the first 5 years and said "nobody has ever been prosecuted via blockchain analysis." a few of them stopped saying that after it started happening but most of them still don't care. they are intellectually lazy and not proactive. and now they are going to sit on their hands and pretend that shoving everyone into a custodian is not a big deal, even after everything from mt gox to ftx. they are not the sharpest crayons in the box.
Most of the world operates in a cult. We just call it culture. Cult is the root word for culture. Culture can be defined by saying “this is what we do.” So I don’t know if that is a bad thing. In my “cult or culture, my family.” We love each other we support each other, we educate each other, we eat the same food from the same pot, we drink from the same glasses, we sleep in the same house or same area. With my friends we have a different culture. At work there is a different culture. The same with coins. We all have different cultures.
The fees on the main chain are ridiculous right now so that is also very true. Privacy… I’d rather be secretive. They can see what happens on chain. Ok cool. Good for them. I want them to see it. They just won’t know that it came from me because I keep secrets. Like a bank account. We keep secrets of how much we have or don’t have. We don’t tell the cashier. I have x amount of funds so this card should work. We just swipe the card and keep it moving.
Finally, everything happens in stages. Today the network nor the people are ready for bitcoin to be main stage. Me either. I want it to take 5 or 10 or 50 years. Maybe not 50. I probably won’t be here. Lmao But you are right. It is nowhere near ready.
