A year ago today, the world lost an artistic gem. Lyubov Panchenko - born in Bucha, Ukraine, 1938 - died in Bucha, 2022. During her life she travelled Ukraine, exploring the traditional folk art of her country. She produced watercolours, collages, designed embroidery and dresses. In her later years, she received the Vasyl Stus prize. #OnThisDay #OTD #Art #ArtHistory #UkrainianArt #UkrainianArtists #ArtOfUkraine #Ukraine #LyubovPanchenko #LiubovPanchenko (1/3) https://media.mas.to/masto-public/media_attachments/files/110/287/792/079/877/941/original/248eb348350ce663.webp
During the russian occupation, she starved. Late in March, an explosion destroyed her barn, smashed her windows and door. Although she was starving, she had continued to share food with her dog - who alerted neighours. Neighbours found her lying unconscious. Sadly, she was too frail, and never recovered from the occupation, never saw her home liberated. I posted a couple of times about her: https://mas.to/@picard/109762715944064107 https://mas.to/@picard/109920251214826351 (2/3) https://media.mas.to/masto-public/media_attachments/files/110/287/831/199/065/336/original/b4088be51c2f1ce0.png https://media.mas.to/masto-public/media_attachments/files/110/287/832/649/779/421/original/6f30008d23118ffd.png https://media.mas.to/masto-public/media_attachments/files/110/287/834/008/902/040/original/a20df00bafdf67c4.png https://media.mas.to/masto-public/media_attachments/files/110/287/834/804/607/410/original/b7a89fbb497362bf.png
