Once the bureaucracy has put enough people on the dole, the snowball of socialism is impossible to stop without violence.

In United Plantations, that happened a generation or more ago - half don't pay any direct taxes to WARshington and half don't vote.

So, a quarter of the voters decide, and winner takes it all in that system.

As long as you're physically available to pilfer through "taxes", and unwilling to resist even through civil tax disobedience,  your vote doesn't matter.
