@67975218 @mushroom soup ya cool this is what i mean by "one piece' unit, just that the arbor is attached directly to the handle part, vs a flexible shaft and it looks like the kit comes with a few cutoff discs. you have safety glasses too?
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: @mushroom soup not yet, im going to buy a face shield and a vise to hold the dowel later i have ordered the thinner cutoff discs too that are supposedly ok for steel
@67975218 @mushroom soup face shield isn't strictly necessary but it does give you an extra margin of protection on top of safety glasses a vice should make it easier to cut rings and also wind the wire
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: @mushroom soup ive been using a drill with knitting needles to coil it, it works great. before that i was using one of these lmao it took forever https://files.niscii.xyz/obj/98f83809-31c3-4f83-8290-21b70c8c894a.webp
@67975218 @mushroom soup that makes sense, exactly what i would do- put a slit or a screw or something in a rod to attach the wire and wind it using the drill these pliers are interesting. haven't seen those before
@woodland creature :pleroma_fox_tan: @mushroom soup i didn't even need to do that. you bend the wire so it catches on one of the teeth on the chuck of the drill and it stays put, very easy to remove.
@67975218 @mushroom soup clever
