The past few days on Nostr have demonstrated the growing need to nurture curated communities that have the ability to limit exposure to unwanted content and focus on connecting with like-minded individuals. This was always the goal of Ditto — to #GrowNostr by providing a tool for creating these community-driven spaces. Ditto allows communities to manage their content experience on both a server and user level, all while maintaining the freedoms we know and love about #Nostr. Learn more about how Ditto, currently being developed by @Alex Gleason, can be used to deal with harassment and build stronger communities on Nostr. https://soapbox.pub/blog/curated-communities-with-ditto/
And for the ladies of Nostr... this one is for us 💜 https://henhouse.social
Just follow people you're interested in and don't follow people you're not interested in
That mostly works, but it misses the opportunity for community growth on Nostr and, as we've seen, results in low user retention when they fail to find meaningful connections. Every other social media platform that has succeeded has done so because of the communities people find and build. This is what keeps users coming back day after day, and we need that if we want to grow to mainstream adoption. Although, I understand some people prefer stagnation when they are comfortable.
