Forgive my ignorance, but how (or can it even) the algo relay work alongside wto relays? Seems like in order to use the algo relay one would need it as their sole relay, right?

Vitor is going to to have to make some special relay config category for algo relays, with a little checkbox that turns it on and deactivates all other relays when checked. That way we have an easy way of flipping between the algo relay (and other future algo relays) and our traditional relay set.
