I don't see it on Amethyst, Snort, Nostrudel, or Primal. What client are you using?

If I visit Nostr.band it doesn't show up there either for me in search, but njump.me says it exists there. I can't search for it though.
My guess is relays actually do respect and delete the event, but njump does not.
But then it shouldn't show for some people on Amethyst so it must be somewhere still. Maybe some other relay that collects from these relays before deletion 😐

It's going to most likely exist somewhere, but you can get things 99% deleted, which means you can't delete because people could always just rebroadcast the note again from the one place it exists. For the most part, that won't happen, unless you make bold claims that you can delete something. Then everyone will rebroadcast it 🤣

i checked and none of the relays that they mention still has it, i'd guess njump have it cached locally (and so have the users that still see it in some client)
This has happened before with njump caching content, so that makes sense.

I can also see the quote post on Amethyst, but if I tap on the original note or search for the note ID, it can't be found.

That's really odd. And I'm confused.
If I recall correctly a user can essentially "undelete" a note if they overwrite it with the exact content. My initial thought is that maybe the repost has done this in some way in order to recall the quote post. I'm sure someone will chime in with more details.

I copied the Note ID, pasted the link (without (nostr:) on delete.nostr.com app confirmed via nsec.app reloaded my timeline both on Amethyst and Primal and voilá - NOTE DELETED.
Derek if you have more useful apps which work with nsec.app authorization please share a list with us (please include nostr website app) I complete lost that note/link because I didn't bookmark it. Need to use that bookmark button more often.

Damus is probably saving it in the local cache / local NostrDB
On Primal: We can't seem to find this note. It may have been deleted by the author.

That may be but Primal is the only client that gives me a user friendly response confirming it is indeed gone of the desktop clients I use and tried. Coracle and Wherostr just shows a spinning box, noStrudel gives me the event ID and other clients to try, etc.

The deletion seems to work for me, can't see it. I understand that it's relay-dependent and that technically the internet never forgets anything (with certainty), but it's basic UI wisdom to always offer the user the ability to undo things. I accidentally reposted one of my own posts in Primal just after posting it. Not a biggie but I didn't like it as that can come across as spammy... can't unpress that button 😞
