Spent the day redesigning #Amethyst as way to get accustomed with designing for android. (since there will only be more of these) - Activity Log, ... 👉 Custom Feeds: - A selector to switch between feeds that go way beyond selecting profile lists - Explore existing feeds created by others + DVMs - Create you own based on: profile lists, relays, event kinds, ..... 👉 Explore: - Search on the navbar (since it's on every page already) - Make it an explore page instead of just leaving plenty of space empty #nostrdesign @Vitor Pamplona

Maybe, I like the optimism. It's supposing nostr will eat the Instagram and tiktok experience, or something? Who knows ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ Depends how you see things panning out in the future too. Tastes change. There feels like there might be somewhat of a resurgence in messageboards/forums for example. The pendulum could be anywhere lol. There's not much usage now that's for sure.

I was thinking in coding your Custom Feeds idea and make a list of those feeds the new "home". Similar to how on Chats you see a people list first and then enter in each chat room, the All Follows list would just be one item in the list. Switching the feed option in the top nav bar can still be there, but the app would naturally go back to your "Feeds" to reset your exploration of Nostr.

I remember you saying that an played around with that UI-wise but couldn't find sth that pleased me (yet). And then there's my own preference of landing on one particular feed that I picked as my top feed. 😉

Find a user that spends most of their time on What'sApp and you will see the "multiple feeds as home" idea. People create groups for everything... family, work, marketplace, fun, porn, etc.. It's all one mega list. They pin the important stuff to the top and the rest is by date.

Overall, it's an improvement on what's there now, but gosh, I want to be able to customize stuff so I can nope out of stories/reels/whatever. I hated those things on every other platform. I don't think they are necessary on a protocol that has no algorithm. Also, without dumb filters (my opinion, I also hate that crap) or photo/video editing built in to the client, you're just going to get reposted junk from other platforms. If you want people to post original stuff, then the creative side of things needs to be implemented and then differentiated from snap/IG/TT.

Yup. I can't see mass adoption from tiktokers without comparable editing tools. The issues that come up are music copyrights. That's going to be a pretty big sticking point if the RIAA goes after relay runners for hosting music that the rights holders aren't getting paid for. That's going to be a mess that we are all going to have to figure out at some point. Maybe with music that's and to be licensed and paid for via lightning, but that pool so be small at first until more artists step up and create music for nostr communities to use. I think that's a pretty big opportunity since I'm sure the artists would see a greater portion of revenue and also the relay host could use part of that fee to cover the costs of hosting. It could be a triple win, if structured correctly.

Overall good design. Amethyst needs redesign. It needs the thread redesigning most. It is very difficult to know who replies whom in tne thread. Reel is not my issue. I hope they are not like facebook or tiktok. Put communities there on the top keeping the design intact.
