How can you avoid seeing feeds that you do not like here?!
I am echoing the thoughts of @philgarland here. I noticed that Primal's trending mostly #btc #politics & #nostr.
Other than the animal video that I see from Amethyst, I hardly see positive content that is trending! Perhaps it is only my feeds?
#asknostr I deleted twitter/X because I do not want their energy! I am moving away from Tiktok because I do not want to be censored. I want more control on my contents.
However, if we are only drawn to those top 3 topics, are we not limiting the potential of this PROTOCOL?
Or is it just my feed? I am completely new here and I am simply sharing my observations.
Seeing negative posts and angry narratives are not healthy. I am guilty as charge because I noticed that posting topics like POLITICS ( whilst it is important) it is getting more views and engagement vs my usual content - life lessons! I am changing this!
Let's encourage more positive contents here.
PS. I am not saying the top 3 topics are less important. I am saying those are drawing different energy and to some extent, negative ones!

The way to avoid topics or feeds is to mute them.
Follow people who align with your interests on Nostr, there are lots of people here who diverge from those 3 topics. It takes awhile, you are the algorithm here. Gotta put in the work but you’ll have a much better experience if you do.

I would avoid using Primal for their trending topics as that is a simple popularity contest algo.
Instead, its more fruitful to follow hashtags of interest or curate your own lists associating people into categories as you discover them.
Hashtags tend to work better (until abused) as people often have and post about varied interests

I understand that some of the topics can be repetitive. But I think that’s the beauty of #nostr right now. It’s truly random. 🫂
In order to diversify the content you see, it’s probably best to follow certain accounts and get more users on #nostr. Hopefully, new users will bring more diverse content. It’ll take time.
I personally want to bring more positivity to Nostr. I created my online ministry @faithlovelight yesterday, which will only post positive content. My goal is to add another voice and showcase another side of #nostr.

Hi Mae, welcome to Nostr! I would suggest playing around with different apps. Many of them have a different feed and discovery algorithms. Some, like https://coracle.social, even let you build your own algorithm if you are into that.
The app I work on, https://nos.social, has been running a program this summer to promote creators and journalists posting outside the usual topics. If you download Nos you can find a list of these folks by tapping on the Discover tab.

I had a look and I am gutted because it is only for iOS 😔 I am using Amethyst already.
If you are on amethyst you can block certian phrases from coming into your feed as well
