Lamentations 3:52–57
I have been hunted like a bird
by those who were my enemies without cause; they flung me alive into the pit
and cast stones on me;
water closed over my head;
I said, ‘I am lost.’
"I called on your name, O Lord,
from the depths of the pit;
you heard my plea, ‘Do not close
your ear to my cry for help!’
You came near when I called on you;
you said, ‘Do not fear!’
These verses have really struck a cord with me this week as I've really struggled to feel closeness with the Lord. I've cried out and pleaded with Him and at times it's felt like there's been nothing. These verses reminded me this week that He is always there. Always listening. Always close. "He will not let my foot slip" (psalm 121). This month has really pushed me to the brink many times. Where does my hope lie? My marriage? My kids? My own strength? My friendships? At the end of the day when all those things could be stripped away, where does my hope lie?
"My hope lies in the Lord..." (psalm 40:1). https://image.nostr.build/00f50e19cb916e11213ab26e59bbe8b2e45670aa5d0cb7330977720fee8073ab.jpg
My grandma has been gone since January. For the first time since she passed, I used her recipe for apple pie. As it finished and my house filled with the sweet smell of baked spiced apples and hot pastry crust, my eyes filled with tears. I miss her. I miss her hugs. I miss her voice. I miss our conversations. But! Because of the hope that the Gospel gives us, this temporary goodbye will not last forever. I will see her again. Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice so death is not the end.

Nothing quite like walking into a dental clinic where no one speaks English, and having dentist (again who doesn't speak english) fix a front tooth that you broke in half while you were trying to teach your kids to swim underwater...nothing in life prepares you for that. 🦷👩⚕️🫠🥴#expat #abroad #plebchain
"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." - Martin Luther King Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr isn't talking about what some would call "a leap of faith". I believe he is referring to the trust and perseverance in the Christian walk knowing that God is working through whatever situation you are in. That is faith. 100% trust in an almighty, omniscient, faithful God.
"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." Hebrews 11:1

"If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world." (C.S Lewis)

Genesis 1:11–13
"And God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.” And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day."
