 • Poesia Siciliana.

The stillness of a Sicilian morning, broken only by the hum of history. The Targa Florio isn’t just a race—it’s a feeling, a timeless echo on these winding roads. The engine roars softly as the sun rises, and in that moment, it’s just you, the car, and the road ahead. A drive that stirs the soul •

Behind the Wheel of a Legend: Our Journey with the Countach

Picture it: Italy in the summer of 1988, where the warmth of the sun mingled with the beat of Pet Shop Boys’ "Domino Dancing" climbing the charts. It was the dawn of an icon—the Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary, a car that seemed plucked from another world, the ultimate evolution of a machine already considered legendary.

Last week, we had the privilege of spending a few precious hours with this automotive marvel, right in the heart of the Bolognese hills where it was dreamed up and crafted. The experience of sitting behind the wheel was like stepping into a world suspended between fantasy and reality. The raw power of the V12 filled the cabin, reverberating through every inch—a primal thrill that seemed to ignite something ancient within. Each twist of the road revealed a sweeping view, the Italian countryside rolling out before us like a cinematic masterpiece: golden fields, rugged stone walls, and the striking colors of classic Italian architecture beneath a flawless sky.

Every push on the accelerator was a journey back to an era when design and engineering danced together in pure art and alchemy. This model, a final homage to Horacio Pagani’s ingenuity and Marcello Gandini’s vision, commanded the road with lines that cut through the air, while its aerodynamic touches spoke of bold innovation and relentless passion.

Driving the Countach was far more than following a road; it was a pilgrimage through Lamborghini’s storied legacy. Every second at the wheel was a delicate balance of past and present, a connection to the spirit of a brand that defined its era. In those brief, exhilarating moments, time ceased to matter, leaving us suspended in an eternal embrace with the icons of yesterday. And in that union, we felt anew why legends like the Countach continue to captivate and inspire generation after generation.

The Porsche 356/930 3.0 RR was originally modified by Viktor Grahser, an Austrian aviation mechanic who combined the body of a Porsche 356 Roadster B with a 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six engine from a 911/930. After Grahser’s death in 2008, the car was purchased at auction by a dealer in Stephanskirchen, who further modified it according to Grahser’s vision by adding widened wheel arches, bonnet air intakes, and a 911-style front spoiler. This modified car was later tested and purchased by rally legend Walter Röhrl.

The 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV, locked away for decades in a bricked-up room within a crumbling Palazzo in northern Italy, is a discovery that surpasses typical barn finds. The late owner bought the car in 1975 for 7,500,000 Lire (around $11,000) and spent 40 years fending off persistent buyers while keeping the car securely hidden. This Miura, one of only two built in 'Bruno Metallizzato' with a 'Pelle Avana' interior, is the seventh-to-last car made and remains cosmetically unrestored. After a long pursuit, the car was finally uncovered and will not be restored but carefully preserved in its original state and remain in Italy.

The Vector M12 is an American supercar built between 1995 and 1999, featuring a 5.7-liter V12 engine from Lamborghini that produced 492 horsepower. With a fiberglass body and a distinctively angular design, it was capable of reaching 0-60 mph in approximately 4.8 seconds and had a top speed of 190 mph. Despite its unique blend of American design and Italian engineering, only 14 units were produced due to high production costs and Vector’s financial issues.
