I've had a few reviews of my books that said the language was confusing. I'm pretty sure they meant slang and word usage rather than spelling.
Though I've had people write to tell me that my disclaimer saying I write in British English is demeaning as Americans are perfectly aware of British spellings – then go on to point out 'mistakes' that are in fact British spellings they're unfamiliar with.

My parents are pensioners in Alberta. They’re worried about Liz Truss, oops, I mean Danielle Smith’s pernicious plan to replace the Canada Pension Plan with an Alberta-branded one. Frankly, I’m terrified. I’m already supporting my parents. How much more would I have to provide under an #APP?
