Busy week -> lazy Saturday (and @c8122fcd #maker meetup tomorrow).
Upgraded #prusamini firmware; swapped out an Arduino mini controller in some audio hardware; upgraded a servo on our #axidraw plotter; upgraded my iPhone.
We submitted our #plotterart piece for a show in November; I did some hacking on an Inkscape plugin; I attended a data portability conference; I spoke at a #DevRel meetup; I had a bunch of calls around potential freelance opportunities.
There’s a blog post in that lot!
This iPhone/Watch upgrade was frustrating. The phone migration had to be restarted, and then a bunch of apps had issues, and the Watch had to be reset and repaired 3 times. First world annoyances.
Submitted our small board for #WimbledonArtShow in November 🎨 a pen plot entitled "Machine Learning" - will share when the sale goes live in a month. #plotterart
@e8333406 this was another great one, chaps - and now I’m probably going to have to blow my SteamDeck install away for a third time and try all of this out. In a good way, but, curse you!
Still time to grab a slot to join the Dublin (and online!) #DevRel meetup tomorrow, where I'll be speaking about where communities are online post-Tw/X, and also share some tips on Mastodon. https://www.meetup.com/dublin-devrel/events/295949863/
@89dc6f67 coincidentally, we are camping at the moment, and the nearby town has an Eel House as one of the points of interest. Sadly closed until next spring. #eelfacts http://www.towntrust.org.uk/eel_house.htm
@1cdc664b ahhh thank you! Hoping to live up to your expectations! I was particularly excited to meet Rich Millington at #DevRelCon, who wrote a few fab community-related books, and whose recent blog post about Community Everywhere inspired my thinking here. https://www.feverbee.com/communityeverywhere/
@8d1e08d7 oh, it was taken down after multiple complaints - my post, that is - the account that is churning out copied content is still right there. Hashnode hasn’t done anything further.
I’m not sure what is up with the LinkedIn app on iPadOS 17, but it has some hilarious scaling issues in Stage Manager. Difficult to show in a screenshot without showing potentially private data due to nature of the network, but the text gets very tiny at different floating window sizes.
Really interesting talk from Nadia Jiang #DevRelCon about developer communities in China - emphasising the relative youth of developers in China (63% below 30) and providing solid data around preferences and ways to engage.
I like Alfredo’s angle on the automation discussion from yesterday at #DevRelCon… “ruthless automation” -> “*thoughtful* automation” 👏🏻 measure and be aware of what you’re doing. Human interactions manage the “important nuance”
Rich Millington pointing out the proliferation of online spaces for conversations, private and public, many of which we don’t control “we can fight against that if we want, or we can encourage and accept it” #DevRelCon - my take - the role of #DevRel is to go to where the communities are and the conversations happen; and then listen, engage, empathise, support and learn.
I just set up a Postmarks instance for myself @@andypiper's bookmarks - yet to get it well-populated, but that was super easy, thanks @ff2993ad 🔖 👍🏻 #ActivityPub #bookmarks #fediverse #glitchdotcom
@c76776cc@5756e48c interesting, I haven’t tried my CF filaments yet… out of interest what was the durability of the nozzle / how many prints / print time overall in the end?
