From #DevRelCon into a meetup-inside-a-conference - DevRellers meetup London hosted by @63788010 and featuring Emily Omier talking about community - building a team of supporters for your product, learning from the community to improve the product.

Feeling a bit sad about the “ruthlessly automate things” message from the Snyk talk at #DevRelCon - I feel like there’s certainly value in having advocates share content, but too much automation is going to reduce the developer-to-developer connection and community empathy spoken about at the start of the day.
… a good audience question: “you spoke about automation, but what have you done to support the resilience of the people?” #DevRelCon
Nailed it: you need to find the right communities to share your content, e.g. Python community on LinkedIn vs via a brand account on Twitter/X #DevRelCon
Great question to Common Room on the stage: how long will you continue to support Twitter stats via their very expensive API? And call it Twitter? A: until content is no longer there (and we will probably always call it Twitter) #DevRelCon 😬

Come to the unconference tomorrow to talk about how to get content away from that platform!
I’d fully expected to be at my first #DevRelCon this week, but alas! No job yet.

That means y...
 @1730c89f 😔 we miss you!
Just spent some time in an unconference session about social media post-X etc #DevRelCon - tomorrow I’ll be happy to lead a follow-up discussion but I had to jump to another engagement.
Another great speaker I’m here for #DevRelCon is Adam DuVander. Nicely performed set of lessons learned / to learn about writing better content and reaching more developers 😊

Some great corridor-track conversations at #DevRelCon - it is good to be in person for those serendipitous discussions.
Fabulous question asked “what is your why on developer education - why spend so much time on it” @e17ebe50 responding that more equal access to education and knowledge is a key motivator 👏🏻#DevRelCon
I’m a huge fan of @7307c1b4 - I wonder how many other folk at #DevRelCon are using it?

@e17ebe50 referring back to @89dc6f67 expression “I made a computer do a thing” as a capsule for the learning experience: that process is super quick to demonstrate in Glitch.
Excellent point from @e17ebe50 - code comprehension has a large overlap with natural language concepts vs being only a numeric technical discipline #DevRelCon

@89dc6f67 we miss you, thank you for supporting Matthew and the team on the #DevRelCom program committee! ❤️
“Software development is fundamentally a learning activity” @e17ebe50 #DevRelCon
Another of the online friends I’ve finally had the opportunity to meet in person today! Excited to hear from @e17ebe50 - so much experience of learning and education frameworks. Starting with a shout-out to @89dc6f67 for his earlier talk at a previous #DevRelCon about research into the area of learning, also referencing Ken Robinson’s work on problems with education systems.

Was wearing mine yesterday....
@673dc12c they gave us 2 - TWO - pairs of socks in the swag bags. Very red ones.
 I have a strong #DevRelCon FOMO today.
@ac1a918c I may be considering changing my name to Hanson as a result of how cool this is. /cc @bd014001
Solid laugh for “As many of you know, Twilio is actually a t-shirt company…” #DevRelCon
MLH session at #DevRelCon @bd014001 pointing out both the ways that the program can help to define preference for learners and platforms (e.g. AWS vs GCP), and also how developers have influence over purchasing decisions (see also Developers as Kingmakers / RedMonk has been saying this for many years)
Super uplifting start to #DevRelCon. It’s an unstable time in the tech industry and in the DevRel field, but DevRel is a community and we support each other. Thank you @be559ecf for reminding us to Pay It Forward ❤️ 👏🏻
BTW: if you are using Mastodon, you can follow the #DevRelCon hashtag to get updates in your home timeline.
Excited to be back at #DevRelCon, meeting old friends and talking to folks who are new(er) to the field as well. Great to meet online friends in person, too!

Two out of three events this week are done; today and tomorrow I’m at #DevRelCon. Really disappointed and sad to find a lot of people are having their event discussions on X. The Fediverse would be a much better space for that. There’s so much opportunity to build better communities here.
FWIW I wrote about the future of DevRel without Twitter (and X is *NOT* Twitter) #DevRelCon https://dev.to/andypiper/thoughts-on-dev-rel-in-the-post-twitter-era-2k8a
I'm finally #3dprinting a #octolamp (from @0a1754d0 wonderful design), after meaning to build it for ages. Moar Blinkenlights!

@f81dbab6 @9962674f @d81c7823 glad you enjoyed the episode! Will definitely be looking out for the update, and continuing to experiment with the app.

@ab84ab6e extremely straightforward so far! I'm not replying through it, though - it's great for managing posts and history, less useful perhaps for general social tasks. I actually just re-bought a license, having lapsed back in ~2.x days I think.
