Feeling a bit sad about the “ruthlessly automate things” message from the Snyk talk at #DevRelCon - I feel like there’s certainly value in having advocates share content, but too much automation is going to reduce the developer-to-developer connection and community empathy spoken about at the start of the day.
Nailed it: you need to find the right communities to share your content, e.g. Python community on LinkedIn vs via a brand account on Twitter/X #DevRelCon
Great question to Common Room on the stage: how long will you continue to support Twitter stats via their very expensive API? And call it Twitter? A: until content is no longer there (and we will probably always call it Twitter) #DevRelCon 😬
Come to the unconference tomorrow to talk about how to get content away from that platform!
Just spent some time in an unconference session about social media post-X etc #DevRelCon - tomorrow I’ll be happy to lead a follow-up discussion but I had to jump to another engagement.
Fabulous question asked “what is your why on developer education - why spend so much time on it” @e17ebe50 responding that more equal access to education and knowledge is a key motivator 👏🏻#DevRelCon
I’m a huge fan of @7307c1b4 - I wonder how many other folk at #DevRelCon are using it?
@e17ebe50 referring back to @89dc6f67 expression “I made a computer do a thing” as a capsule for the learning experience: that process is super quick to demonstrate in Glitch.
Excellent point from @e17ebe50 - code comprehension has a large overlap with natural language concepts vs being only a numeric technical discipline #DevRelCon
MLH session at #DevRelCon @bd014001 pointing out both the ways that the program can help to define preference for learners and platforms (e.g. AWS vs GCP), and also how developers have influence over purchasing decisions (see also Developers as Kingmakers / RedMonk has been saying this for many years)
Super uplifting start to #DevRelCon. It’s an unstable time in the tech industry and in the DevRel field, but DevRel is a community and we support each other. Thank you @be559ecf for reminding us to Pay It Forward ❤️ 👏🏻
Two out of three events this week are done; today and tomorrow I’m at #DevRelCon. Really disappointed and sad to find a lot of people are having their event discussions on X. The Fediverse would be a much better space for that. There’s so much opportunity to build better communities here.
@ab84ab6e extremely straightforward so far! I'm not replying through it, though - it's great for managing posts and history, less useful perhaps for general social tasks. I actually just re-bought a license, having lapsed back in ~2.x days I think.
