Whose job was it to turn day-time on?
The Long Walk. My Galway #painting when it was in progress beside the finished work. Sometimes I just freehand an underpainting like this. Other times I might draw lines with paint, or blob in loosely and refine. #MastoArt #MastoDaoine #Art #Ireland

My Dart is stuck at Grand Canal Dock because "there is a swan on the line".
Dunguaire Castle. To the south of #Galway Bay now for another in my series of posts showing you a #painting in progress alongside the finished piece. This came out of #cycling by Kinvara and of course liking castles. #MastoArt #MastoDaoine #Art

@494592e6 Thank you very much! I painted another such bovine beast last year that I've yet to make available as a print, though I don't think he's quite as colourful as this fella.
"Clonakilty Bay" Another in my series of posts showing you a #painting in progress alongside the finished work. I've cycled a fair bit around Clonakilty and West Cork, and I especially love down the bay to Ring or on the other side to Inchydoney. Painting down there is one of my favourite memories too.

@fc9031c3 Thank you very much. It was such a great spot for a friendly visit and to paint.
Wexford, The Bull Ring. Another in my series showing you a painting in progress alongside the completed #painting. I've been to this corner of southeastern #Ireland many times, but this painting always reminds me of the time there celebrating my parents' 50th anniversary.

@5e0a056d Thanks very much. I'll also post other ones which will show different approaches - I think.
Carrick-on-Shannon. Here's something to give you an idea of one approach I take to #painting. It shows a painting in progress beside the finished painting, that I did of the County Leitrim town. I'll show you more examples like this. #MastoArt #MastoDaoine #Art #Ireland

Going on an expedition to the kitchen for a piece of toast. Should be back in an hour.

@494592e6 Thanks v much. A few things going on with my legs. Was doing physio for my knees (significant arthritis dating back 15 yrs) and also for the heel of one foot which has me limping for almost 2 yrs (Achilles tendinopathy - they ruled out plantar). Meanwhile the other ('good') foot is currently suffering my worst gout attack in years (or maybe something else) and has me unable to stand the last 5 days. So unfortunately not painting at the moment but hoping to resume as soon as I can walk.

 @494592e6 Thanks
Unable to walk for days now, the inconvenience of it all being as old as the pain probably. I can't even finish this post with a casual, "I'll go pour a cup of tea so". Tomorrow though, tomorrow will be different.
When your good foot turns into your bad foot and you can't work out how to limp properly any more.
I don't usually do this, for fear of being spammy, but once upon an elsewhere time I used to do it frequently - because as my sole source of income for 11 months of the year I really am very grateful for such things. So thank you whoever it was who bought a tote bag of my Galway #painting of The Long Walk https://www.redbubble.com/i/tote-bag/The-Long-Walk-Galway-Ireland-by-eolai/9692187.A9G4R
Now I'll go back to not doing it. #MastoDaoine #art
Shaving my nose. I've a wedding this week.
I have an unhappy foot. But a pleasant disposition.

@badbe92d I'm fine getting drowned on the way home - where I can change and happily dry, but it's the traipsing around the shop for the guts of an hour while wringing wet I'd like to avoid.
Japers, I don't mind rain at all but Met Eireann has rain forecast for every hour until some time on Monday - and that's after being non-stop from yesterday some time. Was kinda hoping for a dry dash on the bike to get the messages.
Making progress on a new painting - which has a very specific deadline. The progress is mostly being made in my head where I am furiously painting. Ideally in the next several days I'll then be able to hurl it out.
"Carrowmore Lake" Your first #painting of today's two, good people of Mastodon, is a County Mayo one. Also known as Crocosmia, the brilliant orange Montbretia is a common sight in much of #Ireland, especially the west, but like Fuchsia it is an invasive species so despite its beauty it's not all good news. It is rather nice to cycle alongside on a summer's day though. #Art #Cycling

"Donegal Diamond Cut" Your late #painting today is another from the northwest of #Ireland - one of Donegal town where I took liberties with its Diamond. It's another of my paintings where I placed mesh-tape on the parts where I would be painting buildings. #Art

"Blue View" Your early #painting today is a scene I painted during a particularly blue day in #Ireland. One for lovers of bogs and mountains and general blueness. #Art

"Pearse's Cottage" Your evening #painting today is a scene in the west of #Ireland I keep returning to - on bicycle and in paint. Rosmuc, and the cottage that was Patrick Pearse's summer gaf for 12 yrs. On a small raised area overlooking a lake it gives good views of the Maamturks. Not sure I'm mad on the location of the visitor centre that's now beside it, even if I do like the actual building, but we'll live. #Art #Cycling

"Claddagh Quay and the Long Walk" is your early #painting today. I was so close to a trip to the west of #Ireland these last 2 weeks, and Galway in particular - where I'm overdue painting other scenes of the city. But life didn't co-operate - as seems to be the way these days. #Art

"Mayo Field" Today's early #painting for you is more obviously #Ireland. Specifically it's of a spot in County Mayo between Ballycroy and Clew Bay, and between the Nephin Begs and Corraun. Good #cycling territory I can tell you, because that's how I got there. #Art

@30c6b548 Aside from the temperature the limited colour range would help me establish the values the way a plain white canvas wouldn't, and then because they're warm colours I try to use them to warm what's going to be a cooler final painting.

@214f1eda Sorry, I somehow missed this comment - and thank you! It's hard to say - I've done maybe 16 or so paintings of Sligo, and dozens of sketches - I'd be tempted by one of my paintings of the Gleniff Horseshoe or one of the ones of Knocknarea, but forced to choose one I'd probably go with this one of Enniscrone beach: https://www.redbubble.com/i/art-print/Enniscrone-Beach-County-Sligo-Ireland-by-eolai/40552907.DJUF3

@30c6b548 Thanks. I didn't go to art school myself so I don't have much academic knowledge. Even in ordinary school I received no teaching, so everything I've picked up is self-taught from experience, from friends who are artists, and from a million videos and books where I compared what I was doing with how others describe or do things.
