“I hate this game, I have to keep playing it." My son, talking about #EldenRing, which I think is how everyone thinks about #souls and #soulslike games.
i’ve been awake for 40 hours and i’m starting to have incredible ideas
@bce96d5a I think I've done this and I'll just wake up 17 hours later to a note like "what if burrito, but sandwich?"
I could 1000% get my daughter to commit whatever war crimes you want just by playing Taylor Swift in the background.

Me: "do the dishes"
Her: "gfy old man"
Me: *waits 20 minutes*, puts Taylor Swift on
Her: *washing dishes* "did you hear about how Taylor..."
@a6ff0b2b Every review I've read about this seems to indicate that he doubled down on everything that sucked about the Jobs book.
@7bbb8ff4 Thanks! I haven't dropped my iPad on my face yet (my phone, though...) but I am extremely lazy and may or may not have a problem of having my iPad in bed with something playing and trying to juggle my phone. Super, super serious problem.
@2836a58e I'm mostly enjoying it, but haven't watched/read the source. My son (anime nerd) did make fun of me for watching it though, so idk.
The whole “lesser of two evils” trope regarding U.S. politics is no longer valid IMO. It’s ...
@603773e5 what really baked my noodle is realizing that 20-30 ago, they were just quieter about it.
Will death be enough to get Feinstein to retire?
@5b6a31d1 How do we know we're not already in a Weekend at Bernie's situation?
Lots of people would go back in time and kill baby Hitler or buy Apple stock or something, probably just me that goes back to tell myself to throw away the Allen wrenches that come with ikea furniture.
@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b And we can pull that thread a little more. Tom Morello, probably one of the best/most influential guitar players in the last 3 decades, would also go on and form another supergroup with members of Cypress Hill and Public Enemy. They sound like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2220MdXVPGw
@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Anyway, fun topic. If we turned this into a coolest collabs thread, holy shit I'd be here all night. Pick basically any name in this thread, and they've worked with someone amazing that you didn't expect. anyway, go listen to @2fe92171, my favorite show about buying a refrigerator and learning if we can even do a vacation (I told you I was bad at pitching this.)
@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Easy my children, you take all of the instrumentalists from Rage, add Chris on vocals, and form Audioslave and become known for this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm1nCYOZB-s, though I'm partial to [Cochise](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDMvN45sjo4) and [Shadow on the Sun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGYGfaM694M)

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b But folks, we're not here for Chris's solo work (I'm always here for it, actually) we're here for Supergroups. So what happens when political protest rap-rock group like Rage Against the Machine have a falling out with the lead singer? A band that made [Killing in the Name](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8de2W3rtZsA), [Calm Like a Bomb](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HKm6GkXOHCc) and [Guerilla Radio](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rm1nCYOZB-s)?

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Alright, lets cd ../../.. a few times back in this thread to Chris Cornell. Post Soundgarden, Chris releasesd a bunch of bangers solo like [Can't Change Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecoWjR3fDT0), [Seasons](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uwT1Q6JeB4), and [Nothing Compares 2 U](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuUDRU9-HRk)

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Them Crooked Vultures self-titled, aka the album that carried me through 2010 had personal faves like [No one loves me and neither do I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMLHqAUyhEk), [Scumbag Blues](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8MlvHJPveY), and [Elephants](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vkUMp7oWXvc)

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b But anyway, back to our topic at hand. Dave Grohl is in Josh Homme's band. Did they collaborate further? Oh, that's right, the literal answer I thought of when this topic came up. Josh played guitar and did vocals in a band with Dave on drums. Completing the three-piece - John Paul Jones from a little band no one's ever heard of called Led Zeppelin. They form Them Crooked Vultures, and release one album.

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Eagle-eyed watchers may notice that in Song for the Dead, there is a familiar drummer Dave Grohl, from tiny bands like Nirvana or the Foo Fighters. That's it's own thread which we're going to come back to in a second, but you might also want to check out The Desert Sessions, which is just Josh Homme from Queens asking everyone cool if they want to jam, and everyone cool being like "yeah." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Desert_Sessions

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Queens frequently featured Mark and is arguably a supergroup of it's own. Formed by former members of Kyuss Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri (check out Space Cadet by them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rcU-IfF-CWY) they frequently had Mark as a contributor. Absolutely kills it on tracks like [In the Fade](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P92tZ5ae720), [Hanging Tree](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=473wEdL_GzU) or [Song for the Dead](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOsmG-sufNc)

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Did someone say Screaming Trees? Well, buckaroo, that's fronted by the late, great Mark Lanegan, who was also in Mad Season. You could probably create your own game of 6 degrees of Mark Lanegan, but in this case it's going to take us a little afield of grunge and to Queens of the Stone Age.

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b **side note, how in the year 2023 is markdown not supported literally everywhere? oh well, those links will still click and those that know, know.

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Then another grunge almalgamation: Mad Season. Layne Staley (Alice in Chains), Mike McCready (Pearl Jam, boy he gets around) and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees.) The big song by them was [River of Deceit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm72DPJCX58)

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Temple of the Dog had Chris Cornell (Soundgarden), Andrew Wood (Mother Love Bone), and Eddie Vedder, Mike McCready, and Matt Cameron (Pearl Jam.) You've probably heard [Hunger Strike](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUb450Alpps) or [Say Hello 2 Heaven](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-8s_S0s3sA)

@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b So my first thought when this topic came up was grunge in the 90's. There are like 6 grunge bands that everyone knows, and I'm reasonably confident they all lived in the same building and would just walk into any apartment randomly, madlib out a band name, and then produce a cultural touchstone of a record for us born in the early 80's. Starting off with Temple of the Dog.

alright, inspired by this week's @2fe92171 (no idea how to pitch this show, but you should listen) featuring hosts @cfcf7cd7 and @a6ff0b2b a list of supergroups that sprung to mind. And, because I am a person on the internet that might just be a simulation just for you dear reader, I'm even going to throw in some links to songs you might know by them. and though I'm loath to say it, feel free to boost and add your own. 🧵

Seems like a lot of negativity for a technology called “Unity”.
 @5b6a31d1 something something United States…
Please, just give Filoni and Favs Star Wars already (this is a really good ep of #Ahsoka)
@f0727292 this is a good one (really hope you like pearl jam): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKzG6LiFUHA
How Dollar General (and the like) are really screwing us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQpUV--2Jao
I’m happy for the people that learn best through video content, because this is their time. If ...
@21f06d90 Although text is usually better for me, I don't mind video. The problem is the video is usually intro -> rambling description of problem -> 7000 things you might have already tried -> ad break -> now to fix the problem (painstakingly slow in the middle third of the video) -> more nonsense...
