alright, inspired by this week's @2fe92171 (no idea how to pitch this show, but you should listen) featuring hosts @cfcf7cd7 and @a6ff0b2b a list of supergroups that sprung to mind. And, because I am a person on the internet that might just be a simulation just for you dear reader, I'm even going to throw in some links to songs you might know by them. and though I'm loath to say it, feel free to boost and add your own. 🧵
@2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b So my first thought when this topic came up was grunge in the 90's. There are like 6 grunge bands that everyone knows, and I'm reasonably confident they all lived in the same building and would just walk into any apartment randomly, madlib out a band name, and then produce a cultural touchstone of a record for us born in the early 80's. Starting off with Temple of the Dog.
@7733fbd0 @2fe92171 @cfcf7cd7 @a6ff0b2b Fun thread! One of my favorite supergroups is John Frusciante's album Shadows Collide With People, as it's essentially the Red Hot Chili Peppers without Anthony Keidis, which I'd argue is a better band (musically and morally). https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kAkDkkCycQMETrSa3ZKQyjB-F8yIhvir0&si=cfG3uZs75kmmY3rq
