I admire that someone made a site in 18 different languages telling people that the first message of a chat conversation should include the thing you're making contact about, not just typing hello, waiting for the recipient to respond then making the recipient wait for you to type. I wholeheartedly agree.

Today's piece of obscure trivia: There's an Indonesian city whose name Singaraja means Lion King.
It's not even the only city named after lions in South East Asia (where there are no lions in the wild) Singapore means Lion City

@1b2be89d@30ce86c6 you’d think it would be a common thing. One of the reasons financial services companies often force people to use their leave is frauds become more apparent when people aren’t logging in doing what they need to do to keep the cover up going
I’m off to the Melbourne Royal Show today. What started 175 years as a way for rural folk to gather and show off what they produced to city folk has grown into an unhinged extravaganza that’s parts theme park, petting zoo, food fair, agricultural trade expo, music festival, craft show and market for products usually only found on infomercials. Despite it being kind of expensive and sometimes tacky I love it because it’s such a feverdream of an event.
I’ll be posting the weird and wonderful things I find in this thread. To start with, here’s some well behaved cows

Something I think has been massively under communicated to the detriment of the #voicetoparliament Yes campaign is that this is something that this was born out of the extensive work and consultation among Indigenous people as part of the process leading to the Uluru Statement From The Heart. I’m guessing most Australians are probably assuming it’s just something a white politician thought was a good idea
