Privacy and security is extremely hard to achieve. We need privacy tech abstracted away for the users. I remember a website where we could buy hardware with Qubes but then again you're trusting that website.
Expecting people to setup these systems on their own doesn't scale. Without scale, we can't improve these technologies.
But then again, there isn't enough demand for it either.
This is the problem I see with privacy tech. PS: I have set up systems on my own with significant effort and expenses.
Me too! This should be true. Marketing is such a waste of resources.
I have been thinking about this for far too long. If you build it, they should come!
Things didn't use to be like the way we have it now. If you built something great, kings used to value your product. To get an audience to the king was also easier as the servants wanted to be the ones that bring the best to the king.
It is possible to build a system where "if you build it, they will come" will hold true. Builder and distributor separation will unlock immense value.
I took several more steps to try it out. Their main client Warpcast doesn't work at all if you try creating an account using a seedphrase. Maybe because I'm on Mullvad.
I tried another client, Flink.fyi. if you create an account here you can't port it over to the VC backed Warpcast. Flink is barely usable.
Supercast is another client that requires you to login using Warpcast.
Farcaster is a clown show.
Mechanism designs, product and backend(coding). It interests me because I have thought about this problem a lot. I might have some strong opinions on the way its built which we can debate on and iterate on. If we don't align, we can go separate ways of course.
