Just shows how centralized shitcoins are.
Poor Bitcoiners won't get the benefits. Maybe Trump's Bitcoin advisors should not have crawled in the ass of shitcoiners.
From a business perspective in normie world this position is understandable and quite common.
In the context of open source driven bitcoin and bitcoiners who supported your products and helped you build the company this move seems a bit odd. Don't know the numbers but likely the blockclock isn't your cash cow.
Also coldcards are not simple in UX and seems more for technical users / enthusiast audience, which is the user base that likely don't agree with that agressive move. Also free market and competition yada, yada ethos.
If it's not the cash cow and backbone of the company then a softer approach like just asking to rename to avoid confusion would have been the better approach, imho. This could cost more coldcard revenue than the precedent it hoped to set for possible future "evil" blockclock copy cats.
That said, much respect for the company you built and what you do for the space - just disagree how that was handled in the context of our small ecosystem and your target audience.

None of the other parties was cautios on covid vaccines, all pushed the narrative. It was clear years ago that they will win. Same wit Ukraine war narrative, no other party allows nuanced view on the EU given narrative. Now the other parties and primarely green president shit their pants and do not recognize peoples votes. Ironically they say they need to protect democracy. Austria's politicians is a clown circus.

You say we will go back to jumping into a random taxi and pay in cash to avoid all that crap? Good.

Will be interesting to see who of the bitcoin maximalist "friends" of Saylor that where invited to his house or boat call him out for the custodial bullshit. Let's see if they put principles over Saylors favors. 👀
Why more difficult? Does not matter how many coins custodians have? Node runners decide the rules like last time.
Worst case they can ban non-custodial BTC maybe but they can't easily capture network majority. Saylor positions himselfMSTR as big custodial player maybe. Or 3d chess to downplay power of self custody? Or compromised/ back on the wall?
You think the fraud Craig Wright is defeated and should go back to the hole he came from but no, he is on it again and suing devs for the 991 billion in marketcap of BTC vs BSV.
The only way to not get harrassed by him is if he finally is in jail and bankrupt.
Ah it might have been a video playng in loop on locked screen, but wtf does it not cache the video? cc nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqpzamhxue69uhhv6t5daezumn0wd68yvfwvdhk6tcppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcewvzaw
Think it was a video in loop on locked screen. Using Amethyst for 1+ years, never hadsuch a huge spike in one day. Definitely room for improvement with some caching 😅
Congrats and thanks for the hard work. It adds another great option to receive LN payments. Merchants have now a wide range with different trust models and fees to choose from. Onwards 🚀💚

Do we see a small-noters vs big-noters war incoming? 🤣
Agree though, feels a bit clunky just for likes. Maybe relays aggregate them and you can still verify if you want. Nobody will do that but this is not really imporant data anyway. Or we go #onlyzaps

Right I used likes when I meant reactions.
We could argue that single char notes are a waste of bandwith or even spam. But I also like reactions as they transport emotions without a written reply. So I agree with your point I guess.
Would reaction aggregation (for counting) hurt that use case if the authors client still downloads all reactions?
> this number can be faked or inflated and is only used by people manipulating the masses by bragging their own numbers. notes with 3 / 4 likes sometimes come from the same account that made the post in the first place, and because clients aggregate and don't show who did what and when, they distort the value of the note and burden the relays. that's why advocating for more of this is going the wrong way, clients will just show meaningless numbers to people.
good points but I would argue you can always create new npub bots to like your content and then it would not matter if aggregated or not, the numbers would be inflated. Sure relays will have not the full sight but it would be a fast way to receive an initial count without wasting too much time downloading all reaction notes. Clients could fetch that and after fetching more important stuff get the notes so it would just speed up things. This all assumes that reactions are not that important and it's ok to delay downloading of the full data to speed up ux.
please don't try to sell the corn otherwise Lopp will come and destroy testnet4 too 🤣
btww. is testnet4 already broken? block times look like on testnet3, lots of blocks at same time and then big gaps? seems the fix did not work 😱

Don't get me wrong, Geyser is a great project and it helps a lot to get attention to your cause - but this shows why open source wins when sh*t hits the fan. All displaced projects can spin up a BTCPay instance and start their crowdfunding there.

RepyGuy bot is a perfect example why filters are not censorship. Just because it can be done does not mean it should be done.
Filters help to get rid of assholes exploiting the protocol and impairing its users experience.
Same with ordinals, just annoying spam that impairs the monetary network.
Nice, when BTCPay Server. Easy one-click installer like (or better) than Lunanode would be nice.
Pricing in Sats could get a bit pricey when we moon, will prices adjust in that case?
I think we should spend (or better, spend and replace) to build the infrastructure/adoption for the future. When we are all rich we want to spend BTC directly and not change to fiat to buy stuff, right? But I can see why people don't want to spend their savings stack and that is fine and I don't assume they are spooks.
You may not want to spend at all because you have not much but a 10x from here will change your life in the future, so every sat is precious.
Or another reason would be, instead of spending/selling, you borrow against your BTC and spend stablecoin/fiat instead.
Exactly, nobody said free speech is easy or comfortable. But it is needed to build opinions. We can idividually ignore opinions of "idiots" but we should not censor them.
Dropped mine 2 years ago after 12 years macbook because back then the price/value and linux sucked on desktop and windows was no option. Now for 2 years on tuxedo with tuxedoOS (based on ubuntu 22.04 LTS w KDE/Wayland and rolling releases) which is pretty much plug n play.
Got it, yes seems that's not possible but we are trying to figure out how to make it work. Unfortunately Shopify is locking down their silo more and more.
Shoutout to all our amazing contributors, ambassadors, sponsors and merchants that build out important bitcoin infrastructure to accept bitcoin payments. We will make fiat obsolete. 👏💚

Habe nix anderes gesagt. Für die einen bleibt es ein Investment weil sie nie tiefer in das Rabbithole eintauchen. Einige weniger werden den proof of work erbringen und alles hinterfragen und tiefer in das Rabbithole abtauchen und erkennen das es die Welt verändert.
Jeder darf in Bitcoin sehen was er will. 🤷♂️
How can anyone cheer any Bitcoin reserve to pay back debt?
- it means a massive 100+ trillion $ dump looming in 20+ years
- why would gov be so stupid to sell their best asset, they will instead keep printing even more
