biology posters: “we counted the number of foxes in this area by attaching radio collars to them. Turns out, the fox count is fucking dying because of fracking”
physics posters: “silicon does weird things to electrons, episode 853”
chemistry posters: “we thought this was a very funny looking molecule so we went and synthesized it. 2 grad students were harmed during the making of this paper”
sociology posters: “we did a study on discriminyation. turns out, marginyalized people are marginyalized”
economics posters: “this chart tells you the maximum acceptable poor people to kill to optimize profits”
math posters: “we found the dual of the Szieleski-Ichiya-Smith Theorem of topological surfaces, which usually only works for R^6, when applied in Schloppen-5 space. This has very useful implications for Hylofractal Tetronormal Calculus.”
Oh right, how could I forget
CS posters: "we made another architecture of neural network using tensorflow. It's very accurate in our test set but if you try to reproduce it, it probably won't be very accurate, and it will probably discriminyate again black people too."
There are 2 genders of nyames for Chinese food:
- extremely simple and utilitarian like "tomato fried with egg" or "potato strips"
- some real poetic nyame with a backstory like "Buddha jumps over a wall" or "mother and child reunion"
@134318c2 I feel the same with the way physics is usually taught without calculus. It simply doesn't make sense that way, you need a rudimentary understanding of integrals and derivatives to actually know why all the formulas are the way they are.
if there is truly a "correct" way to speak English, then it would either be Old English (by history) or the Indian English accent (by majority of speakers)
my grandpa worked as an engineer at an electronic components factory in China. Even though he's not that good at computers or tech, he still keeps up with a lot of modern computer trends. I took him to the computer history museum today and he really loved seeing all the old computers
