I'm going to tell you what I absolutely did not want to hear for 2 years of trying to seriously quit. Go to AA. I tried every stupid rule I could make up but AA works better than any other program.
I'm two years sober now and don't even go to meetings any more. Occasional sponsor call. My addiction years were brief so my hole wasn't as deep but get to AA and work the program til you know what you need.
