I seek to discover that what I believe is wrong and am thrilled every time I find such. Before looking too closely at the evidence or lack thereof, I vaguely believed the official conspiracy theory originally given. The closer I looked, the harder it was to believe. Each person is on his own path with speed to understanding determined by many factors including curiosity, intelligence, confirmation bias, and availability of information.

 @be846a9f TMK regardless of their hosting location, the instances listed on searx.space all use the same Searx or SearxNG code. The available search engines are hard coded. So you can never get results from Yandex via a Searx query unless you fork it to provide that engine. Engines can and do downrank/suppress results from different sources, but much of that is a black box to us. 

 @be846a9f Searx is a metasearch engine rather than a search engine. It relies on querying the engines you can see in the preferences area https://search.gcomm.ch/searx/preferences. From what I know about these available engines, they are all in NATO aligned countries, but you can tell me if you see differently. I do not know the full extent of Western firewall capabilities nor what is implemented. I understand how firewalls can impede crawling, but how can a firewall affect a query or the results from Yandex?

I once ran a searx instance and understand it. I don't think the hosting location of instance matters much. The underlying search engines configured in the preferences limits/determines results you will get. All the engines available in searxng seem to be from NATO aligned countries. Yacy is a decentralized engine that can provide some mixed results depending on what operators choose to crawl.

I live in an Iranian community who came to the US after the revolution but still travel back and forth. Today people in Iran can wear whatever they like at home. What is acceptable to wear in public is what changed. This can be seen as a rejection of Western liberalism and tamping down on what they see as degeneracy and decadence. I am American and see their choices as none of my business.
