I wasn't feeling great and convinced myself it was mental health but I actually ruptured a cyst on my ovary, so now my mood is fine I guess.
 I love really old dogs!
My spouse's co-worker's 13yo daughter has been missing for a week. Please share!

My 11yo kid was playing a popular kids game online with friends from school, and a random player had a Nazi swastika icon. Another kid defended it and said it is actually a Buddhist symbol. My kid clarified to the group that it is a Nazi swastika on a Nazi flag and not the Buddhist symbol. Make sure your kids know what that shit means so they can protect themselves. They are hearing it is just this or that, and make sure they don't fall for it.
Cats love silvervine sticks! Especially cats who like to chew on things they shouldn't.

Hint: Every single time you see someone talking about how we're not having enough babies, they're...
@54a21f42 And every time someone talks about overpopulation, they are actually saying there are too many non-white people.
People with uncontrolled OCD in the form of animal hoarding often avoid getting in trouble by fronting a rescue org. If you get a pet from a rescue, make sure you investigate them as well as they investigate you, keeping in mind that prohibitively difficult adoption processes are often a red flag for these situations. See where your pet was living. Don't meet halfway someplace different. #AdoptDontShop

Without natural fire ecology, forests got too thick for a couple hundred years. I don't know much about fire ecology, but won't it take a couple hundred more to burn back to normal?
Autistic people are just neurologically queer.
The worst part about trying to help an autistic person out is that by helping, you are putting them into a social situation, which makes it worse. For example, my autistic daughter is well liked and lots of kids want to play with her at recess. Recess is especially stressful for her-- she also has selective mutism. She wants to be alone to recover a bit from school-- being social is the hardest work of all. She has to explain to everyone she wants to be alone for break, and then they ask her why and think something is wrong. Everyone fusses. She will do all the social work of explaining and then the teacher will see her alone and then play with her because they think she is outcast or depressed or something. People might recommend she go to a quiet room. Then everyone asks her where she was all afternoon, and she was in a boring room to boot. She decided to bring a book to recess so everyone just leaves her alone while she can still be part of the group. It helps. #ActuallyAutistic
Autistic people like puns, no exceptions. It's universal.
People will straight up block you and even rescind friendship in person if you don't want to participate in voting for your fascist, capitalist, oligarch oppressor.
The downfall of the quality of Google search results has a silver lining: now my kids don't trust what they Google.
Be very suspicious of people who can't admit they're wrong. Parents, admit when you are wrong to your children, and teach them to do the same.
My autistic son just told me (also autistic) that whenever I talk to his friends, I talk about my special interest-- animals-- and it embarrasses him. I told him it embarrasses me when he talks about Fortnite to my friends. And that I would shut up about the animals. Yikes.
