Same thing happened with our downstairs tenant. She set off the fire alarm multiple times a months and with a 1 year old kid it caused havoc. Despite being told numerous times that it was "code" to have multiple of these damn things in a small 2 bedroom basement apartment we just said to hell with  it and removed the one causing most offence. Everyone is sleeping well now. Screw their code!
