Service industry: no one wants to work, we can't find enough employees!

Also service industry: we need to pretend to our customers that it is safe to dine here, so you must get sick every few months and possibly permanently disabled to keep appearances up that the pandemic is over.

Because that is what is marketed to them. And because if the other cars on the road are bigger, its safer for the occupants to also have a bigger heavier car. Of course this is very bad for many reasons.

 @32351832 voters are not "spoiled brats", most are genuinely desperate to have a quality of life, and the society that we built for them requires use of a car, thus making gas prices an inelastic part of their budget. 

The key is to communicate that the risks from climate crisis are more hurtful than expensive gas, and to provide a society that allows freedom from cars. Good luck finding that message in the mainstream news, though.
